why the hell didnt they release it at Xmas?

isn't Dec is the time for SW now? that christmasy feel of a SW movie - a summer SW movie dosnt feel right now!

also everyone still pretty burned by TLJ (and if not its still too soon after that - just 6months!)

all the production problems surely warranted a delayed release anyway!

and this summer was always going to be totally PWNED by Avengers (&Deadpool) then theres Jurassic to come! whereas if Solo had come out start of Dec theres literally nothing until 14 Dec - Mortal Engines -wtf is that? and the Spiderman CGtoon (Aquaman/Bumblebee are 21 Dec & Mary Poppins 26Dec)

I bet had this been delayed to Dec itd have done a lot more like was predicted (120m-150m wkend) and be of course for about 700-800m ww total. the way its looking now be lucky to reach 500m - Star Trek (Into Darkness) numbers!!

Its a good question, I am not sure why they would release so soon after the prior Star Wars film had so much negativity attached to it and this film had a lot of issues during production. It would have been better to put more distance between both those things. Even so 700-800 still would not have been great, but at least they may have not lost money. I do wonder if the international would have been much better though. China is checking out on Star Wars it seems and that is a huge part of large International BO.

bet they wish they had now. as SOLO isn't even going to make it to 400m
