The franchise seems to be in a death spiral at the box office. With the expensive reshoots this could be the first Star Wars film to actually lose money.
Why do you care about the box office? It's not like you're gonna lose out on money or Disney for that matter, they still have the easiest money maker at hand Star Wars.
I'm a Disney share holder...why on earth would it be hard to believe that there would be fans of Star Wars that would take advantage of the opportunity to own a stake in it? ive also been called a fanboy...unfortunately I have had the term assigned to me for both liking and hating Star Wars...so it holds little weight as far as I'm concerned. It seems like an insult that is suffering an identity crisis...
As for queenie...you got me there as she is a troll with little substance! She tried to post some shit about disneys stock in free fall a couple weeks ago until I showed up...she chose to abandon that topic for one she was more suited for...second hand tripe from boxofficemojo and the like.
"These fanboys are idiot lickspittles. They get nervous about the possible box office failure of of "Solo" as if they were Disney shareholders!"
There's a really bad subset of "Star Wars" fans, really movie fans in general who obsess over box office performance as validation of whatever shitty movie they're into, as if terrible movies don't do well.
But the fanboys who hated it have all convinced each other it's a financial failure, and a few other simps as well.
But yeah, "Solo" is going to be a bit more of a risk than the average Star Wars film, seeing as this is the first time a truly iconic role has been recast.
This is hard to track in some respects. The character is certainly popular, but its the character played by Harrison Ford that makes it popular. This film has had its directors fired, its lead given acting lessons and a high priced director brought in doing reshoots.
Ron Howard name probably increases interest.
Recasting, Directors fired, TLJ and a story that really isn't something a lot of people are interested in go against it.
Depending on costs that were added when Ron Howard was brought on board, if it plays like JL yeah it may lose money. We don't know if it will. I am going to say less than Rogue One, how close depending on it being a good film or not but I highly doubt it will touch a billion.
Han Solo was always my favorite character. I'll watch the movie for sure as han solo was the real likable character for me. I was disapointed that harrison ford insisted that he be killed off in VII.
I'm a fan of the current direction of Disney Star Wars films and I want them to continue. YOU are the person responding to a question you don't think is worth asking.
Lol, as if Disney is going to stop making Star Wars or Marvel or any of their other shitty movies anytime over the next 100 years. We could only be so lucky.
Also, don’t get uptight just because some stranger on the internet doesn’t share your viewpoint.
It may not make even say rogue one money but it will still turn a profit when you take in worldwide gross. Disney cates more about the brand surviving then taking a loss anyway. Star Wars is safe even if this movie sucks critically.
