Why do they refuse to give Gordon a mustache?

I mean he's supposed to have a freaking mustache, i get building up to certain famous characters getting their signature look cause its a prequel, but its a fucking mustache, do we really need to be like "Oh this is long ago his mustache comes later when he fully becomes commissioner Gordon".

He got one for the season finale.

Though he shaved it off half way through.

Because in today’s society, the clean-shaven look is considered attractive. They made Gordon clean shaven so that the protagonist would be sexier and more Hollywood-ish.
