These boards were made for movie discussion, and the worst of the community can seen on the Rogue One threads. It became filled with stupid accusations of political agendas and overuse of the same jokes meant to spite JJ Abrams and Kathleen's Kennedy. There are better places to discuss movies, especially when this website really wasn't a place to discuss movies anymore.

Yes, this board is a rather bad example overall - though I still had some meaningful discussion here about Rogue One.
So there is this board, which is a bad example, and then there are many many many other boards that are good examples of valuable, meaningful discussion. The thing that pains me the most is that IMDb is gearing up for throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
The value of the discussions on the boards cannot be quantified. This is the fundamental flaw with this approach. They are throwing out many many years worth of great discussions along with the trolling of coure. But all platforms can and will be trolled, so this should not be a big surprise in 2017...
So the argument for deleting the boards does not hold water.

Yes, I agree. I've been coming here for over 15 years because I haven't found a good alternative to discuss my favorite films.
But it's almost completely impossible to get a positive, healthy and constructive discussion going anymore. This has just become a place where anonymous haters, negative people and keyboard warriors come to express their hate. And hating isn't the same as discussing.
Right now this board is flooded with people relaying that same opinion on how impossible it was to have a discussion here. Did you even try? I've had all kinds of great discussions right here about Star Wars that never strayed from topic.
You need to learn how to focus and stop blaming the world for your problems.

I personally had the opposite experience: When I got fed up with trolls, I posted a SW specific question and got tons of replies and great discussions.
JarJar Rocks and oranui are two blatant fools who stand for a group of posters that have nothing to offer than pointless, idiotic whining against all evidence..
In fact these forums provide for the technical specs for discussions like no entertainment based forum I have seen before: quote, links, no word count etc...
You can see it in all these threats where people have week long discussions, with 300+ word essay posts. I do not even link such threads as you just have to check the boards, yes the SW boards...
So this is pointless whining and bitching by two individuals that are not known for their intellect. Ignoring or ridiculing their lowbrow output is the best choice one can make.

This board is rough, no question. But the worst I've seen is the Game of Thrones board. Man, you have to go through several pages to find any discussions about the damn show; it's all a handful of posters talking smack to and about each other, asking trolling questions that a 12 year old would find embarrassing, etc.
Whores will have their trinkets.
