how do 50 heavily armed guys somehow fail to wipe out

100 or even 300 walkers? it didn't seem to be more than a few hundred at most.

even when they were on the steps. if they all took up positions and used controlled fire they could have killed them all there. only like a dozen walkers could approach them at that location.

just ridiculous that lead guy became a walker? he and the others could have ran away or hid.

Typhaon has it exactly right. It's the same in zombie movies as in FTWD. The good guys always score a headshot even when running but bad guys can't hit anything. Besides the show vastly increased the number of walkers for this episode. If there had been that many they would have pushed down that fence a long time ago. This show jerks the audience around too much with things like this.

My opinion, since everybody is heading over the boarder to the US,the writers had to write of some of the introduced characters.
Makes me wonder if the next season will bounce between our main characters in the US and the remaining characters still at the Mexican resort.

They got overwhelmed. That sums up how the whole world fell apart and how even the military couldn't hold up.
Sheer numbers.
And they had no escape. The only exit was swarmed by walkers.

The key element here is STUPIDITY. Damm it what was so surprising that the dead would be used against them ?? Seriously.
The Colonia was using them as a shield so it basically so obvious that they could have use them for that purpose, EVEN if they know how to enter. The strategic part was the *beep* bus and they left no one to make sure the dead would not pass.....
