Not sure it really works

Unless the point is to say that everyone behaves badly.

It does do something good in the way it reveals a side of Morocco that most tourists never experience and the David Leanesque shots of the desert are pretty wonderful.

What did you think of the Jo character? For me, I'm not sure the writer knew exactly what he was going for - and Chastain was probably miscast - but it's still a trip to see her play someone like this. I love morally ambiguous female characters - even when they're clumsily written. Although, some reviewers see her as pure evil, but I don't read it that way.

I'm probably not the one to ask. I'm not a big fan of hers - not a detractor either - just neutral, and already the character is mostly faded from my memory, which is never a good sign. You know, I hope the reason for the movie wasn't a way to write off a trip to Morocco! But as I said earlier, I think the desert brought out the worst in every character and she was no exception. Maybe the message is "Don't go to Morocco." :)
