Anybody else who can't stand Lorna Bow?
Don't really have a solid reason to, but I just find her to be annoying AF.. sounds like a pointless rant, but whatever

shareI like watching her being both bold and petulant at first and then softening in Episod 4. I find her to be far more attractive than Delaney's sister.
shareIsn't it funny how different people's opinions can be?
I actually thought that Lorna's appearance provided a much needed spark to the show and look forward to her scenes more than most of the other characters. Most of the characters in Taboo are of the same ilk, so it was refreshing to have a character show up who really doesn't fit in Delaney's world. I think the presence of her character allows us to view Delaney through a different lens.
I much prefer Lorna to Zilpha, whom I personally find stiff and self-righteous. Some have labeled Lorna as self-righteous, but I really don't see that. She refuses to be a prostitute like the other stage actors and she resisted being raped. So, she has some values. How exactly does that make Lorna self-righteous? Zilpha is the one pretending to be something she's not.
I also have to admit that this is entirely subjective, but I have found Jessie Buckling attractive and interesting since her role in the soapy War and Peace and was immediately interested when the actress appeared in Taboo. Again, I realize that judging acting ability is somewhat subjective, but I think she performs well in her scenes with Hardy (they definitely have chemistry).
She's a gold digger. She's an actress. She's in over her head but learning really fast. She's not there to save Delaney and live happily ever after. She's a smart woman who stands up for herself, even when it gets her in trouble or makes her look like a fool. She's clever but naive and has had that smug smile wiped off her face. She's grown on me.
shareI simply adore her, AND her crooked smile. She reminds me of the actress who played TONKS in Harry Potter. I think she's adorable and she's got balls.

And I stepped on the ping pong ball!
It's strange, I prefer Lorna to the sister. She's got more kick to her. The sister just looks like a terrified gerbil every time she's convienently in the same place as Her brother - then she manages to suddenly be alone in a deserted corridor or alleyway.
I'm hoping both women play a large part in a plot twist further into the series.
Love the character and love Jessie Buckley. Growing into an amazing actress. The best thing that happened to her was losing the public vote on The Search for Nancy to Jodie Prenger. She dusted herself down, did a few prestige musical performances for ALW and went to stage school to learn the business. Jodie is the better musical stage performer but for pure acting ability and long term potential, Jessie is the one to watch.
shareI disliked her at first, but I couldn't put my finger on why. Now, I'm starting to like her.

If vampires hate "plus signs" - imagine how they feel about the "square root" symbol.
Awwww, I really like her.
It seemed as if she was going to be the gratuitously slutty widow but she isn't that at all. And the show is making a great campaign for her to be James' love interest.
Getting involved with a step-mother is still icky. But it is a lot less icky than lusting over his sister. Blech. They need to move away from that, as in put it to rest this season and never raise the prospect again.
It happened in the past.
But on that note.
It Was Zilpha who abused James. Yes. It was. The hint was in an early EIT scene where they discussed James' schooling. The first year he was well behaved, smart, studious and enterprising. He returned to school with severe emotional problems. Personality changes are a casebook symptom of an abused child.
Trust me, you are not the only one who thinks that! She gets on my nerves and I really hope that she and James does NOT GET TOGETHER!
