do you have to be black/american to find this funny?

a good 1/3 into the first episode and it just doesn't seem to be doing anything for me.

do you have to be black/american to find this funny?

reply

Nope it's simply not funny. I'll give the show a couple more views but Jesus Christ that first episode was horrible.

reply

I would think that it's funnier to white people in the same way that Amos and Andy was.

reply

first episode was hilarious. it's surreal humor, mixed with some trailer park boys "greasiness". it's not your typical set up/punchline like most sitcoms.

reply

I find it hilarious, I am not black nor american.

You don't have to be African American to find it funny but you do need to have some patience.

I wasn't too keen on the first episode either but I am enjoying the next one a lot better. The first Ep. was just a pilot. I usually find that you need to watch at least 5 episodes of something before deeming it a turd.

The second episode of this show was a lot better. By the by, that opinion was brought to you by an African African.

reply

lol, i agree it's pretty hard to decide on a show after one pilot. i think i was half way through the second season of stargate universe before i thought "hey, i like this" haha (now that's dedication)

color has nothing to do with the humor. it just has to be your brand of funny.

i enjoy some of the characters. alot of the cast is new to me and need time to mold into their roles. corey holcomb is a pretty funny(at times)stand up comic. first time i have seen him act on camera. just give him time. alot of us has seen andrew bachelor with his 6 second comedy skits on vine. we know hes funny so i will give him time. charlie murphy is the best character on the show right now for me. his one liners are pretty funny.

give the show time. the writting and acting will improve. if you stuck around to where its at now you will see that it has.

funny is funny. not funny is not funny. this show is not funny

reply

Your probably in the 10% pool with zero humor, not our fault you have bad humor ;[]

reply

Subtle humour isn't your forte.

White Canadian Male reporting in - find it hilarious.

Comedy transcends race.

You don't have to be black to find the show funny, any more than you have to be White and Canadian to laugh at Jim Carrey or a White Texan to laugh at King of the Hill. It's like thinking that all Black people love Tyler Perry.

The humor might not work for you though, but that's not unusual and unrelated to race.

Wow!

You actually watched a whole third of the show before rushing to IMDB to complain!

What a sacrifice that must have been for you.
