It's excellent. If you like a character driven drama set in a post apocalyptic America, go for it.

shareI'm not a gamer and I enjoyed. Honestly, I think the non-gamers make up the majority of the audience. And there are those who will overrate it because of the game, and those who will dislike it because of the hype or some other reason.
But that's true with every critically acclaimed show. You'll always find someone who hates Last of Us or Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones or The Wire or name a show.
I would say watch the first two or three episodes and make your own decision.
i just finished episode one. i will watch some more.

I think a combination of
- The game ( which I've never played )
- Pedro Pascal ( who is popular right now )
- The girl ( whose name I can never remember but was outstanding in GOT )
- The plot ( apocalypse stuff )
- Finally a new spin on the reason for the zombies
I think it got a lot of attention and hype and that often gets good ratings, but it also draws a lot of fake ratings and reviews, so could be fake.
i have watched the first two episodes and like it so far.
