Getting good reviews

shareKnow what I call reviews before the property has been released and watch by an actual audience of human beings .... HYPE! ;-)
shareSure, BUT the source material is nothing short of a masterpiece and all they really have to do is follow the story of the game and they'll struck gold, and it looks like that's exactly what they've done.
shareI was right to be skeptical.
Self fulfilling prophecy
shareWe'll see. I'm keeping an open mind, but there are some things that bother me, like it's disjointedness and poor continuity. The whole concept seems weak, but I liked that they at least atttempted to explain what is going on with the fungus thing. And the scenes were way too dark. Half the time, indoors or going through that sewer, or the scene where I infer his daughter died, I could not see what was going on.
shareIt was decent enough for me to keep watching, but I wasn't blown away by the 1st ep. I'm not familiar with the game, but with Mazin and all the hoopla, I thought it would present with more than the same old tropes I saw.
shareI liked the 2003 segment. I found the 2023 continuation lacking. It switched gears. I will check out E2 next week and take it from there.
6/10 so far.
The 2nd ep started out good with the Jakarta stuff, but kinda went south after that. Ramsey is overacting a lot, while Pascal is strangely muted. Thus far I don't find either character too compelling.
shareNot really gripping me. I started to drift 40min into ep 3. I was hoping for something more interesting like Station 11, but this isn't even as good as early Walking Dead.
i couldn't remember where I heard some of the soundtrack. First I thought it was Gattaca, but then I realized it was from Arrival. ‘On the Nature of Daylight’ by Max Richter.
I haven't watched this yet but I love the games. I'm super excited to watch this but I decided to wait until every episode is out so that I can watch it without waiting a week between episodes.
I've read a lot of reviews and many of them state that ep. 3 is one of the best. It focuses on Bill right? "Bill's town" is a great chapter in the game.
I know nothing of the game, so maybe it is spot on -- but yes, this covered Bill and his love interest across many years.
shareThat sounds good. In the game Bill's love interest and his whole back story is only hinted at through letters that you find around the town until you meet Bill.
Btw, I really liked station 11, but this shouldn't be a show like that.
Another pedestrian episode. A good show usually zips by, but this one inspires me to multitask about halfway through. I still can't figure out how this received such stellar reviews.
shareEP 5 is the first where I didn't drift halfway through. Probably the best so far, with Ep 1 being second.
shareI'll finish the season, but I still don't get the rave reviews. It's just so basic. I'm more than ready for Succession to take over the Sunday night spot.
