I enjoyed the movie and Florence Pugh was really good, but I wonder how Chloe would have done in the role? I definitely would have liked to see that

Also this role may not be very prominent in follow on movies or TV shows, maybe a more established actor like Chloe won't take it.
Hmm yea I didn’t think about that, she might be more expensive but I think they have plenty to pay whoever.
Not just about this movie, once you signed on you are committed to all the follow on shows, and this role might not be very prominent, could be just a low profile sidekick in the follow on shows.

I don't think Pugh would hesitate at all to sign onto MCU franchise, would have agreed to whatever terms Marvel wanted. I mean this is the big league, great opportunity for a nobody.
Chloe might not be that easy.
Chloe doesn't have anything upcoming besides voicework, and Pugh has 4 movies scheduled after getting an Oscar nomination. I'd expect Chloe to do a backflip over an offer to be in a Marvel movie at this point in her career. She definitely doesn't have the weight to demand a big paycheck these days. It's a finicky business in Hollywood, and stars crash and burn all the time. Chloe had a decent run, but I think she's already in the twilight years of her career.

shareShe's a foreign actress which is undoubtedly part of it, and relatively new in her career but in high demand. Chloe's biggest roles are almost a decade behind her with nothing in the horizon. Plus, Pugh is recently an Oscar nominee, and Chloe has never been recognized as an acting powerhouse. Nothing against Chloe, she's been fine in everything I've seen her in, but nothing spectacular either, unless you go all of the way back to Kick-Ass. Hollywood learned a long time ago that recognizable doesn't equal box office draw.

shareI actually think Florence is rising and Chloe is dropping. The last movie she did was Tom and Jerry. She hasn't been in a blockbuster in 8 years, and besides Greta, nothing of note in that time, and nothing upcoming except voicework in the animated Adams Family sequel. Most mid-level actors only get a 5-8 year shelf life, and I think hers is done.

Chloe would pull a much larger salary than Florence for the same role in Widow. share
If she still had weight in Hollywood, I would think she would have an upcoming acting roll. Her demand just isn't there, so it's improbable that she could expect a big paycheck when she can't get work as it is. I think she HAD weight, for sure, but that time is past.
shareI don't buy that at all. Pugh is a rocket ship -- and with an Oscar nom already under her belt, the chops for more. And I think Moretz would die for a Marvel film at this point. She hasn't capitalized on her early success as a child actress. It's been more miss than hit since those days. You won't see Pugh acting with Tom & Jerry like she just did -- or in something like Neighbors 2 - Sorority Rising. The tide turns quickly if you don't fulfill the early promise. Pugh has everything right now -- indie cred, critical acclaim, and a tentpole film. She has the career Moretz was supposed to have.
