Channing Tatum was amazing

Even though he had a cameo i actually liked him in the movie and as usual Sam L jackson steals it ,but Channing did a pretty good job with the small role that was given to him ,He is really growing as an actor

reply

Tatum is limited

Great cameo and twist and I like the way that his name was kept out of a lot of the promoting of the film.🐭

reply

He's a horrible actor.

reply

He's actually a pretty damn good actor, and you don't know what you're talking about.

reply

So, your perspective is the only perspective, right? I think you may have an undiagnosed mental illness.

reply

It's not a question of perspective. Not every opinion is equally valid - there is such a thing as objective truth, and criteria by which it is recognised.

reply

Obviously, in this case, you've presented none. Just the typical "He's a great actor". I believe he's not. It's kinda hard to change one opinions on things. Maybe with your superior intellect, you can convince me that he's worthy of an Oscar or any other major cinematic award. I personally believe that you think he's a great actor because you have an attraction towards him like how teenage girls believes that Justin Beiber is a great singer.

reply

I didn't see you backing up your "he's horrible" with anything either, and a claim made with no evidence can be contradicted with no evidence, so why should I make the effort when you didn't?

You can chalk up my opinion to hormones if that makes you feel better, but that's just as flimsy and ill-founded as your original claim.

As for Tatum's acting talents, I refer you to his body of work. Probably his more serious dramatic roles will make it more obvious than, say, "Step Up", but the dude can act just fine. He just has a dumb jock sort of appearance, and he's mostly played dumb jock characters, and this makes people like you think that that must be a reflection of his own personality, intelligence and/or talent. I've actually been on a bit of a Tatum binge in the last couple of weeks, after having no interest in him since he appeared on the acting scene basically, and I've seen him do some damn role-appropriate and subtle acting. Is he hot? Yeah, kinda. He's also a fine actor. Watch him in The Hateful Eight, Foxcatcher, and even movies like The Vow and Dear John, in which there were some good opportunities for actual acting. He's perfectly capable of inhabiting a character and of selling a difficult scene, and I don't think I've actually seen him act poorly in any role where there was the least opportunity to shine.

Also, awards are a little too political to mean much. Good acting isn't losing fifty lbs. for a role and playing a mentally ill circus performer with Tourette's, it's just inhabiting whatever character you're playing, whatever that means for the character. Dull, emotionally withdrawn characters should be played dully, subtly. That's good acting in that circumstance. It can't all be flying spittle and "You can't handle the truth!" showiness.

I dont know if I would go as far as call it amazing. He was good. Mannix was amazing and so was Samuel L Jackson.

reply

Yeah there were too ,But There is no denying about how great Sam Jackson is but Channing was such a great addition and was more of a surprise in this movie .

reply

The way his head asploded... i literally think he should'v gotten an Oscar.

reply

Second straight year the Oscars overlooked him.

reply

I thought his acting was strong when he was talking to Colonel Smithers after hijacking the haberdashery, he had a weirdly soothing but still menacing tone to his voice.

reply

He this a joke?
Must be lonely women.

He sucks.

reply

He was definitely pretty charming. That said, the way his character went out belied all the planning he and his gang went through to get her sister. I guess Tarantino was going for a whole, "anybody can die at any point vibe", but it still felt sloppy and rushed to me.
