The original film is not sacrosanct for me. Even though it came out at the right time for me to love it, I was too busy at the time watching Bloodsport and Enter the Ninja, so when I heard that a remake was coming it didn't upset me.

I watched the new one tonight and had fun with it. It's not a serious film, and the film doesn't take its own self seriously, and if you can just watch it for the popcorn entertainment that it is you should have a good time.

It's has a lot of colorful characters, an interesting location with the Florida keys, and a solid final fight scene.

Gyllenhaal and McGregor both got into top notch shape. Having previously seen Conor fighting as low as 145 lbs in the UFC it's crazy to see him as big as he is in this movie. Jake showed in Southpaw that he can get in really good shape, and also that he can do fight choreography, but he took his physique to the next level for this movie.

Overall, it was a fun time for an action junkie like myself.

What's with the cover, ? the guy on it looks like he has some saggy boobs..are those cuts on his stomach or fat rolls...

I agree, so why use such a pose as cover art...it looks ridiculous..
I think they are supposed to be cuts?

And what about that saggy ass boob?

If they are purposely trying to make everything ugly and stupid looking

They are full steam ahead

I agree with you to a point. Like you said, I, too, like the original, but it isn't a masterpiece to be left alone. Still, this was a wasted opportunity for me. It had the premise, the core story was good, but the execution... Most of the characters are annoying AF or, at least, so bland that they are forgettable - starting with the two main female characters. I mean, come on, you have to go the extra mile to replace Kelly Lynch in her prime.

I didn't even know the original, but this one was a lot of fun. Also the place and characters were so colorful, loved it all
