Saw 1 = Intense, tough, obscure, surprising and with a shocking twist!
Saw 2= Brutal opening trap, powerful performances ( Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith and Donnie Wahlberg ) and the time twist really surprised me.
Saw 3= Focused way too much on suffering, gore and torture. It was simply way too much. It tried to be more that what it was really meant to be.
Saw 4= That one was a mess, lol. Parts happened after Saw 3 ( autopsy ), parts happened during Saw 3 ( Rigg's game overall ) and parts happened before Saw 3. Another time twist ( a very cheap trick by the way ) and another apprentice proved the originality was over.
Saw 5= A surprise in my view. It tried to focus on the plot and even on events from previous movies, including flashbacks. It was quite linear and a good improvement after the mess called Saw 4. No twist ( let's be honest, Strahm being framed wasn't a twist at all ). By the way, Hoffman was s son of a bitch.
Saw 6= This is what Saw 3 should have been. It managed to mix traps, gore, story, plot and flashbacks in 90 minutes. I can't believe, but they did it really well. It's easily one of the best sequels in the series. It wrapped up a lot of things and if they had killed Hoffman, it could have been a great finale.
Saw 7 ( 3D )= It starts well ( Gordon's scene was epic ), then it gets silly ( public trap looked like fake ), then it gets great again ( showing Hoffman after Saw 6 finale ), then it gets silly again ( Jill's dream ), then it gets interesting again ( Gordon and the survivores talking about their experiences ), then the movie goes full retard mode ( Bobby's entire game ) and never recovers until the last 5 minutes with the bathroom and Hoffman being chained. Oh, and Tobin Bell got only 3 minutes and half of screentime, which is a damn crime.
Saw 3 and 3D ( they both share a 3, which is odd ) are the least watchable, but sometimes I get to watch them when I don't have anything better to do. All in all, I hope Saw Legacy proves to be a much better experience than that one.
