Kristen Stewart can't act

...this has been seen time and again. She only has one expression. I can't believe why anyone keeps hiring her.

I don't know her or anyone related to movie industry, I'm just a random movie goer. Yet I can't believe why anyone would hire her?

reply

She's awesome! The one facial expression thing is untrue and ya know it....

reply

France knows it. They just gave her their equivalent of the Oscar for her performance in a film with Juliette Binoche--first American to win it.

reply

I know! Can't wait to watch sils. Only hear good things about K and juliette in it. :)

Not to burst your bubble, and don't know if you've seen it but the trailer for Sils is very misleading. It might have helped if I'd read some reviews but I didn't have time So I had an idea but was not entirely sure what the premise of the movie was. Just saw it because it was my friend's turn to pick, plus I like JB.

But Kristen Stewart was awful, as usual. She must be getting these roles because her parents are in the industry. It is definitely not because she can act.

Haven't seen Still Alice yet. Read the book and loved it, and love Julianne Moore and know she'll be great because she's fantastic in everything she does. Even if the movie's not that good, she elevates it and makes it worth watching.

Look at us. You pretending to be me, signing a book I didn't even write. -Selina Meyer

reply

That's ok you didn't like her in it. I have hope. I'm a fan of her so I usually like most things she does. But clouds of sils maria finally opened here so I'm seeing it Monday! Her parents don't really get any attention so idk about that. Julianne certainly elevates still alice though. And kristen does too for the most part!

reply

With a face like that, she doesn't need to !

uh, what do I know ?!?

reply

Kristen recently won the Cesar (the French equivalent of the Oscar) for Best Supporting Actress for Clouds of Sils Maria (2014).

I learned this reading the column of critic Mick LaSalle. A reader wondered why there are so few good roles for women. He replied that there are, just not in the US. Kristen went where the roles were, and that paid off.

I'm no huge fan of hers, but I thought she was fine in this movie.

reply

Well the French also think jerry lewis and Gerard depardieu are amazing actors so I wouldn't be holding this award with such regard... Just saying.

reply

Well, if she can't act, it was a good choice, playing a young actress who's not much of an actor. Just like how Ben Affleck played a wooden actor in Hollywoodland and got a Golden Globe nomination out of that. Play to your strengths.

reply

I do not agree. It was wonderful perfomance both for K. Stewart and, as usual, for J. Moore.

reply

i think she was fine in this movie. kate bosworth on the other hand ...

reply

I actually felt the complete opposite. Kate Bosworth impressed me more than Kristen, and she had significantly less screen time. It's not that Kate was exactly phenomenal, but when put up against Kristen in this, it's not exactly difficult.

Another one of these threads. Awesome.

Question : did you watch Adventureland, Welcome to the Rileys, The Road, Sils Maria, or Camp X-Ray ?

I think probably 12 people watched most of those movies. Total.

"The road"? Really? Bad fan. Bad.

reply

It must be fun to live in a world where people who don't know things make fun of people who do. Easier.

I think about 200-300 000 people went to see the Assayas movie in France, which is a pretty good result. But hey, we must have special tastes, since we gave her a César. :)

I don't even get the last part of your post. Why does "The Road" seem to shock you more than the others ? Is it a satanist movie, or something ?

Anyway, I'm not a fan, just a guy who comes back from watching Still Alice, only sees threads about KS so-called horrendous acting, and is fed up with that irrational bashing.

Probably because she isn't even IN "The Road"? Good thing - it was a pretty decent movie - she would've ruined it.

And don't give me the "I'm not a fan" *beep* Only her fans bring out list of blockbuster fails that nobody has seen whenever someone thinks her acting sucks.

reply

Yeah, I'd say they are "special".

reply

Damn. Here's a proof that I'm not a complete fan : I forgot the "On" before "The Road". You know, the movie adapted from Kerouac's novel. Or you don't. I don't know.

Only her fans bring out list of blockbuster fails that nobody has seen whenever someone thinks her acting sucks

Huh ? Okay, point by point, because you seem a bit slow :
1) Only a guy who knows very few about movies would think the ones I mentioned were blockbusters. Do you live in Blockbusterland or something ?
2) Just FYI, it appears to me that instead of using her Twilight fame to be in big budget movies, KS decided to follow the indie/Sundance path ; it was a choice. And a good one, because besides On The Road, which was pretty weak (although I still enjoyed it for Hedlund and the photography), all these are good to excellent movies.
- Doing what you're accusing me of would be bringing out Snow White... but I found it almost as bad as the Twilight movies (although I like Rupert Sanders' work, but music videos aren't movies...).
- By the way, Snow White did well at the BO, decently enough to generate a sequel, so your "blockbuster fails" makes no sense.
- Finally, and it's a conversation that about a million people already had on these boards but it's not my fault : what on earth does a blockbuster success have to do with acting skills ? According to your brilliant rules, Mark Wahlberg and Sam Worthington are two of the best actors ever because the last Transformers movie and Avatar were gigantic success, and actors whose movies bombed simply aren't good...

Someone's defensive!

Wasn't she cut out of the sequel? . I think chris hemsworth and Charlize Theron are the reason it was a blockbuster success.

Heya DAYZY!!! How are you coping with Kristen's blossoming and extremely busy career? Every time i read a good review (especially for Still Alice) or she gets a new role i save a % of my happiness to think of your sorry black soul 

This is how al the old nonnie look every time they read anything Kristen related http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view5/2247352/temper-tantrum-o.gif (every hour)

Oh, reminds me, i must make a thread about the $27k Kristen fans raised for alzheimer's ... 

And you seem so impressed with yourself, advertising your lack of cinematic schooling like that. I wouldn't make lame semantic jokes around the word "special" if I were you.

Please click on 'reply' at the post you're responding to. Thanks.

reply

"Cinematic schooling"? . Yeah, you got me, I didn't go to university for "cinematic schooling". But I do have an advanced degree in sarcasm.

reply

People really care about her, to hate or to love, but they do, and that's a sign of success.

I guess you could say the same thing about Kim kardashian, Paris hilton, and Lindsay lohan. All four are no-talent hacks that are more well known for their sexual exploits than their "talent".
