I'm going to guess that most of the expert testimony in this thread from those confident that a heroin user could or would never shoot themselves, are neither heroin users nor suicidal.

We hear about the details of Cobain's case because he was a high-profile celebrity. The average suicide is just not going to have this much coverage in the newspaper, you know? Add drug addiction to the suicide and the surviving family members aren't exactly clamoring to share details publicly. There are thousands and thousands of suicide stories that we don't know, so don't expect to stumble on a similar case while doing armchair detective work in an IMDB forum. That also doesn't mean it's never happened.

It wouldn't surprise me if he finished getting his fix after shooting himself in the head. That's what junkies do. That's how much they want it.

Evidently there has NEVER been a case where an addict has shot up and then blown their head off or shot themselves with a gun!
