It started brilliantly, now it just sucks big time!

it is all about "How to take an interesting premise and slowly turn it into a boring, lazy sitcom with characters and stories that no one cares".
In the beginning, the apocalyptic situation played a major role, now the story could be placed in any non-apocalyptic scenario, could it be in a vacation trip to a resort in hawaii or whatever.

I agree. Bring back the awful situation theyre in. It's about time they have to plant crops etc. now they have an astronaut with them, use his science background and inventiveness fer craps sake.

reply

i agree. It's not just lazy, but the story isn't going anywhere..& they have a lot of talent on the show, but this season has been dreadful to say the least. quite pointless.

Let's go get a drink & smoke a cigarette

I agree. When it was one man show, it was brilliant. Then it grew to two, still OK. And three was too crowded. Now it is just too many.

I think I'm one episode behind and still enjoying it

The universe isn’t evil, John, it’s just indifferent.

I was looking forward to the second season, to see where Phil and Carol ended up, who they would meet. But damned if they didn't look up the horrible people they just left!

Thank FOX for that. They were paying all those people so they insisted Tandy and Carol go back to the group because they didn't want to pay the actors for not appearing in the show.

reply

I agree. When it was just Phil going crazy in isolation (every time he interacted with the balls, it was hilarious) the show was unique. It was like a comic version of "The Omega Man" meets "Life After People". Season 2 was still okay....but this stuff with living on the beach as if life is completely normal has been pretty bland. And since his brother arrived, it's really dropped off.

...and when Phil (Will Forte) play car bowling in the parking lot, epic, this is what i'm talking about...

I stopped watching after the first 2 or 3 episodes of s2, it was a waste of my time.

Maybe that's why they keep killing off characters, and Mike could be next.

Life is dangerous, especially in a world without doctors. Gordon and Phil could have been saved if there was a functioning hospital around with doctors. And now Mike, too.

Frankly, on any given day, anyone can get a cut that gets infected or break a leg or get lost in the desert or ocean and die from it.

But, you are right. This show needs new characters. I'd be happy with a cast of about fifteen people, with half of them showing up only half the episodes or maybe 30 seconds an episode. Keep the show centered around Tandy and Carol, but make everyone else a background character.

I gave up when it was no longer the "last" man on earth. This show had so many opportunities to showcase what it would really be like to be alone.

The possibilities were unlimited, but because none of the writers had an original thought left in their heads, they just started adding more and more people.

Uh, season 2 was a drag to get through. Season 1 was amazing. Loved season 1, but season 2 was a huge drag. It really hit a high note at the end (I think that was the season finale; although, I don't know) I'm keeping up with the show on Hulu.
