You can rail against it all you want, but the world is the way it is, and not just Amy is judged by her looks, we all are. People make snap judgements about your intellect, popularity, socio-economic status, social skills, etc. all based on your perceived physical attractiveness. You could be a super genius, but if you are fat an unkempt, people just seeing you will perceive you as stupid.

My very first thought when I started watching the film was that there is no way these guys would be with her. She's just not very attractive. It seems that many people had the same reaction.
I feel the exact same way when I see someone like Kevin James cast as the love interest of Lea Remini. It doesn't ring true.
Like it or not, we live in a society that judges looks very closely. Its very sad. I wish it were otherwise, but I don't think gender has a lot to do with it. Maybe this was the case in the past, but nowadays I believe women judge men's looks just as much if not more.
