shareINDEED!! :D
shareI thought it was interesting, and feel that each character has something to do offer. It was a leisurely paced episode, sure, but I appreciate a “slow reveal”. I want to know more, so I’ll be tuning in next week.
shareI definitely expected the pilot to be a bit more memorable.
shareThat's exactly what I said to myself, when deciding how to rate this.
Another show trying to be stripped back, forgetting it's an entertainment piece.
Yeah, it wasn't good. Im going to watch the next episode and see if it gets better, but I'm surprised HBO put out something like this. The writing came across as amateurish, example: the ape scene.

Since when are pilots ever really entertaining??? I almost never expect a pilot to not require my patience. The only pilot I have ever been completely enticed by was the pilot for The Following.
Every sin is an escape from emptiness.
Maybe not "entertaining" but it's certainly a reflection of what's to come, and should leave something that entices you: Plots, characters, setting, etc. Anyway, it wasn't interesting for me.
shareThe pilots for Lost, The Good Wife, The Walking Dead, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, The Americans, Silicon Valley, Cheers, Rectify, The Honourable Woman--ok, I could go on, but I won't because all of those shows' pilots were very entertaining and immediately captured my interest.
shareNot for me
shareNot really. I thought it was funny and also spoke to issues couples have after having a baby, and actually the kindness most have for outcast family and friends. It seemed kinda real. Amanda Peet is eating up the scenery in this show in a good ay. I'll keep watching. It reminds me a bit of a more laid back PG version of "You're the Worst."
