Everyone knows John Wick, but the russian kid has never heard of him?

I mean, his dad is well aware of him, it seems like the entire city knows who he is, yet the mob boss's son decides to act like a *beep* towards him. I find it implausible that he had never heard of Wick before.

I liked this movie a lot , but the opening premise or whatever seemed hastily put together. In a sense, the maguffin (russian punk-ass kid) shows up in the first 3 minutes, like wtf?

Couldn't it just be because the kid has this incredibly arrogant and apathetic attitude towards everything, so he probably doesn't care about who this John Wick is, because he considers himself to be untouchable in his father's gang?

Or maybe because, hadn't John Wick been out of the game for quite some time at that point? I mean the kid must've been in his early twenties, he couldn't have been very old (or old enough to care at least/old enough to know) by the time Wick was in business and the time of his retirement.
