This movie sucks (no spoilers)

I decided to watch this one because I like Hugh Grant, I love horror movies, and I saw that this movie got good reviews. I didn't like it ... the movie basically has two parts. The first is when they enter Hugh Grant's place and eventually realize they're trapped. The second half is when the girls are actually trapped and have to figure out what to do. The first half basically consists of a Hugh Grant lecture, where he talks nonstop about board games, music, and religion. The second half is a frustrating watch because the lights are turned off, and we can't see anything. I felt as if I were staring a dark TV screen for a large portion of the movie because the setting was so dark. And along the way, we get more of Hugh Grant's nonsense lecturing

Don't bother watching

I could see everything just fine on my OLED.

I thought it was pretty interesting until the last section when it got a bit generic and when the dumb girl suddenly became the smart girl.

reply

Yeah, there's something wrong with op's tv if this was too dark.

I have a 2023 Vizio. I have no issues with darkness when I watch any other movie or show, except this one

reply

Maybe you should get a 2024 Vizio then buddy.

reply

F that shit. 2025 Vizio! Actually go into the future and come back with a 2028!

This is what the movie looks like when they're in the basement. This movie sucks. stop going out of your way to try to say it was shot well

nahh its actually the other way around, his rumblings about religion were boring and the second half is more of a classic horror movie

reply

Both parts suck

reply

Thanks for the warning.

I saw it on a projector with an old bulb that is not very bright anymore. Still I did not have any problems seeing any parts of the movie.

reply

The part where they’re in the basement. 90% of what you see is darkness

reply

Nope. I actually thought the basement was rather bright, as there was supposed to be no sources of light. Had no problems seeing what was going on. There must have been something wrong with the copy you watched.

reply

Stop lying

BRB: “this is so bright!! I see everything!!”

Haha, is that a screenshot taken on your phone? No wonder you had trouble seeing what was going on when you watched it in supershitty quality on a tiny screen =)

Here's pretty much the exact same shot, snagged directly from the raw file:

No problem seeing what is going on there. And here's 5 more dark scenes:

If you're having trouble with those, then you should definitely get your eyes checked.

The movie is still too dark in those screenshots. There’s little to no improvement in your links.

You can make out what’s happening; but it’s not easy or comfortable viewing. It’s a poorly shot movie

I felt the same way about The Last Voyage of the Demeter. At first, I watched it on my tablet and then watched it on my 50 inch Samsung. No difference - still couldn't see what was going on.

reply

If you honestly don't see the difference, then that only reaffirms that there is something seriously wrong with your eyesight.
