Official worldwide final gross: 3.6 m. Budget: 6 million. Why VM tanked.

Badly conceived and executed film based on a TV property that had already tanked on TV. Bad actors (come on, Bell comes from the Jessica Alba school of thespians) with no charisma (no matter how hard Hollywood tried to make Bell a film star in a string of bad romcoms, audiences never found her appealing), and a horrible script that nobody who wasn't a fan of the TV show could understand.
That's why VM tankes at the box office. Audiences completely ignored it, even though VM fans hoped for a breakout (that never happened).

I agree about your criticism. I think the script is quite bad too. Female type "babbling" dialogue applied to all characters (not very fitting on several male characters). Dialogue trying to be casual by incorporating way too many "so" and "like". Also a nagging theme is the mostly uninteresting search for love interests throughout the movie. Kirsten Bell was way hot which created interest in her once. Now, not so much and her acting is quite stale, there's no way around it.

I got me a blu ray copy. Normally I'm a DVD guy , but VM was me worth the blu ray edition.

Back then I had to import the DVD boxes from the US over to Germany.

I guess the DVD and BR slaes outside of the US will correct the final result a bit.
Because we had no chance to pay and see it in the cines.

The film was in theaters for a limited time. I bought the film on blu ray and the quality is excellent.

It tanked because it wasn't about giant, transforming space robots battling Shia laboeuf. They should make a sequel with Laboeuf as VM, spend $300 million creating CGI monsters from space, and the rest writes itself. Veronica Mars 2: Rise of the Revenge. Key bit of Laboeuf dialogue: "OPTIMUS!!!"

The film was giving a limited release and nothing more. It is remarkable that it did 3.6 million. To be blunt though, this film has a budget smaller then most straight to video films. As a result any box office is likely just icing.

I caught it on cable the other night. I didn't even remember it being released. Though I do remember the KS and news of it being made.

I use the word Troll very conservatively as I hate how everyone uses it rampantly whenever someone dislikes a film or disagrees with them.

But being the OP Never even came back. He is, imo, officially a little troll who has nothing better to do then share his depressing, negative personality with the world.

What a sad way to live. Poor little guy. Probably trolls over all the films he doesn't have an interest in and whines about them.

Worst part, he doesn't even care about the responses.

How sad is that?

It was on the internet the day of release and not just for backers, because of the way it was distributed the backers had access probably less than six house before a good quality version was all over the internet for anyone interested to see.
This alone would damage the numbers of any movie but when you add the fact it had a very limited release and some fans would have to have travelled miles to go see it at the cinema (when they could watch it from the comfort of their own homes) then these numbers are hardly a big surprise.

And as for the script only fans can understand well honestly how many people can say they would pay to go see a movie at the cinema that was a sequel to a TV show they didn't watch? Did anyone really think this movie had a chance of raking in millions from non-fans of the show popping to see it at the cinema?

You're pretty much clueless, aren't you.
