I really wasn't expecting Liz to be written out that way, but as soon as I saw her wearing white and just pointing a gun at Red, I felt it coming. And they continue to drag out Red's identity, though I saw a lot of people saying it was and Liz was supposedly realizing that Red is Katarina.

I've heard that theory, and it makes me want to hurl chunks, and regret all the time I've spent watching this show.

They never outright said it so it's not set in stone.Who knows.They continually retcon Red's backstory so much by the end of next season he might turn out to be Ressler's real father.8 seasons of red herrings this could just be another one.

Red being Ressler's father would add significance to when Red avenged the death of Ressler's girlfriend in season 1.

shareI knew they were gonna do her like like that. The news of her leaving was so abrupt I felt like the show was actually angry at her and wanted to make damn sure she couldn't ever come back. TV shows have a history of that kind of thing.
