I'm confused.

I thought about it a lot and can't seem to come to a conclusion. Who killed clara?

reply

From what I got I would say it's suicide because she talked to Walter about how she would kill herself and he would have blood on his hands if it happened. She said that would happen if he chose to leave her and it turns out he actually decided to go on with getting a divorce.

Kimmel killed his own wife but Stackhousee didn't kill his.

That's what I understood, even if I may be wrong.

Yeah, suicide would be the only sensible conclusion I guess. Although I was clear on Kimmel Murders. Thank You

Also, I may be confusing a few locations but didn't the policemen looked at her body then looked up and we get a shot at a bridge or was it only used as a transition ?

So, combined with the fact that you get some flashbacks with her saying she would end her life, the title of the movie and how Stackhouse said a few times that wanting his wife dead was like killing her, I would stick with suicide.

Still, it's not the best thriller-crime movie ever made either so a few things may be unclear.

Who killed clara?

I think the writing left it unconfirmed but my guess is that Clara killed Clara.

But, it's a guess. I cannot quote a line or point out some action which proves it.

There was something about the style and the time period (costumes, cars, props) and the lighting which gave it a film noir "feel," but the thrill and the mystery never really appeared.

So, my take is that a hobbyist-writer wrote this screenplay as a self-portrait of why some folk should stick to architecture.

~~~ "Thinking" involves a lot more work than simply "having a thought"! ~~~
This story was actually written by Patricia Highsmith, a very successful writer. Jsia.
Yep, Clara killed herself and she tried to make it look like Stakehouse did it! She wanted her husband to suffer!!!
