Much Better Than I Expected
The emotions and behaviors of the men were so extreme, I thought they could possibly be actual responses, after seeing what they went through. The character arc of the tall one they called an animal in the beginning compared to the middle telling Norman he was a good man. The stoic competence of War-Daddy. Norman's initiation to war. Bible's religiosity. The scenes I thought I'd never see : a clear close-up of a projectile severing a standing soldier's leg, heads blown off with surprising frequency and the topper(did I see this right?) a portion of a man's face laying on a small ledge in the tank, when Norman goes in with a bucket the first time to clean his seat off. I rewound and it appeared to be what I thought in the first place.Wow. I felt like these things could've actually happened(never read war books) and was repulsed and astounded at the same time. I was glued. I will watch it again and it really struck me as intense. One of the best war movies I've seen and I've seen a lot. 8.5 or 9.
