I wasn't convinced by Rachael McAdam's casting

Not that she's not a good actor, but the script seemed to call for someone else. I don't think it matched her personality. Whereas with Jason Bateman, he seemed to personify the character better. He nails his dry delivery.

I also wasn't convinced by their chemistry.

Disagree - I thought she was perfectly cast. And their 'teamwork' chemistry was great.

reply

I agree. I thoroughly enjoyed their scenes.

who would you cast for her role?

reply

Liam Neeson. He can play anything.

She was great.

She's Canadian. As a fellow Canuck, I should be supportive of her, but I've never seen a movie with her yet where she feels right. She seems too perky in everything when sometimes a more restraint and subtlety is called for.

The worst role she did was probably that boxing movie with Jake Gyllenhaal. She had this overcooked New Yawk accent that was cringeworthy.

I still wanna eat her ass until the day I die

reply

She's perky, but not Anna Faris perky.

I like her. She looks like a cross between Jennifer Garner and Neve Campbell - with Elisabeth Shue's acting style.

" a cross between Jennifer Garner and Neve Campbell "

Ha. Now that you mention it she DOES look like she could be Jennifer Garner's sister. And I sorta see the Neve Campbell connection too.

Neve Campbell is Canadian too -- both of them are from southern Ontario -- so mebbe there's some sort of distant family connection.

On a sidebar note, when I saw a young Joaquin Phoenix in 'To Die For' I thought he looked a lot like a young Mel Gibson, a la the first Mad Max.

M Night Shaymalan must have noticed it too... they were cast as siblings in Signs.

you can see the whole film as her training into being a killer herself.

I thought she was fine. She may have made a point of establishing herself as more of a dramatic actor for most of her career but she made her first big splash in Hollywood doing comedies like The Hot Chick & especially Mean Girls which put her on the map, so it's not like she didnt have the sensibilities for comedy.
