THAT ISN'T YOUR BABY! Wth?
Just...Why put that lady in the story? "That isn't your baby!" So? Both biological parents are gone...Why did Lindelof write this? It makes no sense to me...
Is it just pointless, like the broken pencil?

Probably an intentional or unintentional guardian angel type.
Live the life others can't understand.
I don't think Nora would have crossed the bridge with Lily because of the potential bomb threat. The woman taking Lily gets both Nora and Lily across the bridge. I don't think there's anything more to it than that. Posted by dukemd
Wow, some really good comments on this thread. :)
Spot on about the effect seeing Nora protect her adopted child had on Tom.
And this:
This woman is attributed the name "Snake woman" in the credits.
She is called this because she has a snake tattoo.
She represents the snake that bites the woman in the tribe in S2E01.
Nora lies down on the bridge when protecting the baby in the stampede, in a pose similar to the woman in the tribe, who dies from the snake bite while holding the baby and lieing down.
There are multiple interpretations of this. That initial scene with the cave tribe also has mirrored parallels to the very last scene of S2E10, when the earthquake happens and Kevin returns to his 'tribe' of family and friends unhurt, after coming back from death.
Both Nora and Kevin undo the death of the tribe woman. Nora reverses the part of the story where she is bit by a snake and loses the baby. Kevin undoes the part where the tribe woman dies, and the part where the cave collapses from the earthquake and the tribe is separated.
Not everything has to have an explanation. It was just a crazy lady adding a crazy touch to a scene building up in anxiety and heading towards chaos. There was an "The end is nigh" feel to that part of the episode, which is when the crazy in people comes out. Plus the people living in the park were a somewhat unhinged lot, many of them disenfranchised people possibly with drug habits. So... it wasn't actually that shocking. We already saw all the crazy *beep* they get up to in the Matthew-centric episode.
sharei always am in awe when people either come up with utter trash or are unable to see the obvious:
the scene is a CLEAR reference to the cavewoman scene. in the cavewoman scene a snake was the threat to the baby and the cavewoman died due to the bite..if the woman wouldnt have intervened, the snake(bite) also would have caused the babys death.
in the scene on the bridge, a woman with a snake tattoo (ring!ring!ring!) is the danger for the/a baby...and again someone else intervenes to rescue the baby.
lindelof didnt want to give away the meaning being the reference in the post-finale interviews, but he made it clear that it was a reference to episode one of season 2
and it re-enforces the theme that it is human nature to fight for your family. Kevin and Nora and Tom could give up like the Guilty Remnant, but instead they choose to risk their own lives to save others and to get back to their surviving family.
even Kevin's Dad said he had to leave NY and go to Australia to get busy living instead of mourning away his life for those he lost. the world didn't end with the earthquake cave-in or the Departure, it just changed.
That in itself is a matter of interpretation. What I said is perfectly reasonable and there's no need to call it "utter trash". I tend to think an argument carries more weight if you are able to state an opinion without insulting the first person you see who has a different one.
shareIt was an utterly retarded premise, the fked up lady yelling at her never seen WHO Nora MAY have fked, what's saying it wasn't a black man????
If this had been shot 50 or 60 years ago then yeah it probably wouldn't have been so, but in this day and age, completely possible.

Except for the fact that Lily wasn't the ONLY 'holy baby', there was the other asian girl that tommy split his 6 grand with, very accurately by holding half the stack of cash next to the other one LOL, and then she shot him in the hand.
Since NOTHING has been explained about these mysterious babies, we can't ASSUME anything.
Also like I pointed out in my other thread, this show is only TRYING to be clever, and just leaving gaping plot holes/unexplained sht, doesn't ACTUALLY make it clever, it just makes it the result of lazy writing ALLUDING to being clever.
So when you get an ACTUAL response, please do come back then.
MY ORIGINAL POST:
Maybe you are being too literal in your interpretation.
Remember that Lily (one of we don't know how many babies) is Holy Wayne's (for lack of a better word) creation---which kind of leads to the speculation that she is no ordinary baby.
Considering the nature of the show AND all the unexplainables we seen so far, someone calling out Nora about Lily doesn’t seem strange OR out of place AT ALL!
Doubt, SERIOUSLY, if anyone OR anything is referencing race here.
