Is the leftovers your favorite show?

I've seen some pretty great tv series but the leftovers is the one that I can't stop thinking about.

Everything about it gets me: the characters, the writing, the mystery, the raw emotion, and the beautiful music.

Who else feels the same? If not, what is your favorite show?

Yes it is. It quickly took my number one spot after about episode 3.

I have to say Justin Theroux plays a difficult character but plays it to perfection. He is totally believable and holds your attention with his every word. They couldn't have picked a better lead.

I love this show so much.

Favorite current show, no question.

I feel like I've now been spoiled and watching any other series is just going to feel completely flat.

I find it incredibly hard to compare shows. Like say, what does The Wire and Banshee have in common? Not much, or anything really. They're both live action I guess.

Or Rick and Morty and Deadwood?

Or Black Sails and Carnivàle?

I guess if I had to pick one show, it would be The Wire, but The Leftovers is still a very, very good one and they really aren't comparable, because they aren't trying to do the same thing.

It also depends on what they do with season 3, so it's difficult to say for now where I stand on it. What if they screw up season 3? Maybe that will change how I feel about the show overall?

Sometimes it’s like that. There are times when you have a "clear cut" winner; but there are others when it's hard to choose.

I always do better when I give it the "Cancellation Test". That is, if both were up for cancellation, and I HAD TOO decide which ONE goes/stays....

It's kind of like that old mindset-test where you are asked: If your house catches fire and you can save ONLY ONE THING...what would it be?

For some reason the answer pops!

It's certainly up there as one of my favourites at the moment.

During the last year Fargo was astonishingly excellent, I'm looking forward to that as much as I am the next season of The Leftovers. I'd put Stranger Things in the same category, there are a few similarities with The Leftovers in terms of the depth of emotion etc. House of Cards, Game of Thrones and Narcos are also extremely high quality shows.

We're in something of a golden age of TV at the moment.

My favourite show is, and always will be The Sopranos.

I didn't like the leftovers much, until season two. The change of setting and character development completely turned this show around for me. I was looking forward to episodes every week during the second season, and thinking about them long after I saw it, more so than things like game of thrones. It's still not my favourite show, but it is definitely one of a kind. And it doesn't need dragons or zombies to do it. I agree with everything you said. The music, the mystery, the characters are so fascinating. Kind of reminds me of Six Feet Under for some reason.
