Why So Underrated?
Such a unique, beautiful, thrilling and unpredictable show. I think it is the best show at the moment and it makes me really sad to find out that I'm only one of few... and that there will be only one more season.

I honestly think the title of the show hurts it (even though it's a perfectly appropriate name). HBO shows often depend on word of mouth to grow an audience, but it's hard to get people excited about a show called "The Leftovers" because people mistake it for a reference to food.
shareIts the "Lindelof Effect".
While being one of the most talented and creative minds in tv/film, he has sadly developed a following of morons that hate anything he's connected with, this is mainly due to the ending of Lost, which many butthurt simpletons hated due to the fact it went over their heads.
I really liked the ending of lost. It's a shame that The leftovers won't get the opportunity to really branch out fully. One more season just doesn't seem like enough, considering the scope of the story.
shareActually, 3 seasons for such a show is perfect. Heck, I would dare say just 2 seasons are great for this kind of show (given that the writers are aware of that). Quality never comes with quantity and when it does, the latter murders the former. Keeping it that way even makes it easier for a viewer to watch it, thus following the cult status it already has.
shareI thumbs up this reply đź‘Ť
shareNo dimakorou...2 seasons isnt enough and 3 isnt either...I just starting to know the Garveys and like them all in different ways...and then the show is just gonna end?? wtf is my question...a good show like this where you really care about the characters need more seasons and episodes...atleast 5...Im not in it for the big mystery anymore, Im in it for the Garvey characters and their life in the future...was the same with Penny Dreadful show...ended right when you really starting to connect with the characters, that is why I never thought that Lost was to many seasons or walking dead...I wanna hang with the charcaters Ive gotten to know. 3 seasons for this show is a travesty...all my time invested just flushed away...Im starting to wonder whats the point in even following a show anymore when they always end when you starting to feel and care for the characters and then we have shows like CSI or N C I S crap shows who goes on forever and ever...I dont *beep* get retarded Hollywood and their fixation in shows when they cant *beep* keep em going atleast 5-7 seasons...
~If the realistic details fails, the movie fails~
I liked the ending of Lost. I'm binge watching The Leftovers right now and I have to say that I wouldn't be able to watch it one episode at a time. The show definitely should not go past 3 seasons. It needs an ending... I like it, but I'm tired of it.

yea that was a bit over-the-top.
shareIt is a pretty high-concept show. There isn't much middle ground, most either really love it or really dislike it. I, however, think it is possibly the most unique and compelling show on TV right now.
I am you and what I see is me.
Agreed! I love it. And I think there's a lot of psychological truth in it. But many people don't get it.

I honestly love almost everything about it. I think people came in hating it because of their beef with the showrunner and how he ended Lost. I was never into that show, so I came in unbiased.
Then you'd probably really like Lost too.
In the future, I'll tell my grandkids that I am older than the internet, and blow their minds

I think it's because of the first 4-5 episodes in season 1 being the "worst" episodes of both seasons. If you look at the episode ratings, episodes 1, 2 and 4 are all rated below 8. Many people probably only watched a few episodes and then stopped watching, which is a shame because the show really starts to flourish at the end of season 1 and especially in season 2.
It's my favorite show of all times so far. Made me cry at times.
I don't know, I think 8.0 on IMDB is very good!
In my opinion, good enough; while I like the show, it's not my favourite. But I enjoy watching it!
well if it was a movie i would say 8.0 is pretty good on imdb, but since it's a tv show that's pretty low...tv shows easily gets very high rates on this site so i dont really see how a great show like this is so underrated
share8.0 isn't a low rating for both TV or a movie. 8 is far into the favorable side. That said, it -is- very underrated. The second season of this show in particular elevated it to another level.

Before reading any other commenter's comments to see what they think, my opinion is that most people are stupid (and that's being kind.) If anything requires any amount of thought or artistic appreciation, especially something that's also supposed to be entertaining, like watching a television show, very few people will appreciate it. Depth is a detractor for the lowbrow monkey brains embedded in most of the skulls out there.
