He has always been "hit and miss". His career started strong, but after the Village he hasn't made any great movie. I'm thinking of going to the movies to watch Trap. It may upgrade my view of him.

Not even close. Shyamalan is capable of making good movies, but he has far too many misses to be compared to Hitchcock.

Dude made one VERY GOOD movie, "The Sixth Sense," which had its twist right out of a classic suspense movie from the 1970's. Good twist, but still. The rest of his filmography has been middling.

Completely agree! Although I did enjoy some of his other movies but they are not in the same league as The Sixth Sense.
