So the boys father is standing there in jail with electrodes attached to his head. Is that supposed to mean they observe his behavior and abilities, because he is also from the other world as suggested by the final flash from his eyes?
I think his dad is an ambassador from the other dimension/world. He fell in love and had a child and now his child has inherited his "birthright". My take on it anyway.
I pretty much took that from it. Father is under testing and observation... and apparently is beginning to manifest something similar to what his son had, although nowhere near as powerful.
For those who didn't see the flash in fathers eyes ... they do. Had to rewind and watch again ... right before it blacks out, his eyes have a very subtle glow of light blue white that fades immediately in the bottom half of his eyes - but it is there.
Consider two theories - one, the mother and father (most likely father) have some of this angelic or alien code in them already.
Or
The son is communicating with his dad because he could do anything in earths world. I think this is more the case than my first theory.
The electrodes are monitoring his brain. He is not in a normal prison. Remember, kylo-ren ? Said the government thinks son is a weapon. He is in a military prison or base/facility. The guards are in military police uniforms. They don't have the mother, but they do have the father, and they think he has the power also. So they are not gonna let him go.
In my theory two, remember the son tells them all that the level above ours has been monitoring us for a long time, so the son is now monitoring and would want to help his dad ... I like to think he is communicating to him and teaching him the powers so that he can escape. The subtle flash in his eyes is very weak, but may be the first indicator that he is learning. The father also during their journey tells his wife that the son is the only thing he's ever believed in, so faith may be playing a part in the ending also.
Yeah, you can see the slight glow in his irises in the last second.
I'd think that maybe the barrier between dimensions blurs a bit at sunrise, since the sun obviously has importance, making it easier to communicate with his father.
