About the ending (spoiler alert)

So the boys father is standing there in jail with electrodes attached to his head. Is that supposed to mean they observe his behavior and abilities, because he is also from the other world as suggested by the final flash from his eyes?

reply

I saw a screening a year ago, and from what you described it sounds like the ending is the same. I think that yes, if he is not from the alternate world, he is somehow connected to it now, or at least connected to Alton.

all work and no play make jack a dull boy.

reply

Yes right...I was just wondering if the electrodes could have any other explanation...they were not going to electrocute him, I hope! :-)

reply

When did you see the film, cause that's not the ending I got (unless the final flash was super quick and I didn't notice it). He was just in jail, but not being observed it seems, and was looking out into the sky (kinda a anticlimactic final shot).

reply

Same here. I just saw the film tonight (4/15/16) and I got no eye lasers from Michael Shannon at the end. I think they probably wanted to leave more to the imagination.

Interesting that they decided to remove that.

reply

I think it is the same ending. Observed is maybe the wrong word. I am referring to the electrodes in his hair. Why would he have those if he was not being studied / observed.

reply

I don't recall a flash from his eyes either...I saw it last weekend (18 March).

reply

There was this light in his eyes, the same as his son had.

reply

No there wasn't. The light in the son's eyes was blue and blinding and radiated out of his eyes.

All there was in the final shot was the reflection of the setting sun in his eyes and it wasn't blue, nor blinding, nor radiating.

The implication I got from that was that he was looking up at his son, knowing he was up there somewhere in "the plane" where the "other people" lived.

reply

There was a flash of white light in his eyes, to me it means he sees his son.

reply

There clearly was light in his eyes.

reply

Saw it last night. He definitely has a quick flash of a blue light in his irises.

reply

I went for a second time last night and there was, for sure, the start of a glow in his eyes. Not the burst of light like his son had, but something was happening. I take it as he can now see his son (and therefore, that world) every morning at sunrise. The electrodes are to study his brainwaves as he is experiencing these visions.

Great movie!

reply

I think it is that (the connection) and there is a touch in him of what makes his son so special.

reply

Yes, he is able to see his son because his son is probably allowing him to see him that he is alright and that the father has got nothing to worry about. Interesting how people failed to see the flash in the father's eyes at the end while looking at the sky. It's very visible.

reply

There was definitely a little flash. Super quick, but not normal.

reply

that seems a likely explanation to me, too. there was a subtle flash in the father's eyes, not nearly as powerful as his son, but not human, either. so maybe they were monitoring brain activity especially while he was exposed to sunlight, which seems to have some special effect on these atypical beings. the source of their power, maybe?

reply

I think so. Obviously it's a little ambiguous, but I think that is the most logical explanation of that shot.

reply

Definitely a flash in the eyes.

To me I read it like he had some connection to the parallel world. I mean, logically, the kid is his biological son, so genetically there has to be something...

reply

Exactly what I read it as too. I really do think he was some type of alien ambassador/surveyor/researcher and fell in love with a human and had a kid.

reply

I didn't think those were electrodes, I thought they were just dressings for some of the wounds he'd sustained when he rolled the car.

I think I liked it better when he just said "Annyong".

reply

Just another arbitrary nonsensical bad writing point by the overrated director. If the father does have the flash of blue then why doesn't he have some of the same powers and use it in the movie. Why doesn't he know what is wrong with his son. Why doesn't he know what is going to happen and where to take his son. Oh I know he is special but not that special. Roll eyes.

reply

It's possible that he doesn't have the same powers as his son but has glimmers of it. Maybe his power is to know what his son needs and know that he needs to get him there at all costs. He accomplished that even with great adversity.

reply

Well put.

reply

For sure, there is a brief flash of the blue light (I just saw it.)

But this could easily have been due to being exposed to his son's raw power. He clearly didn't have the power his son had, nor did his mother. And I did find myself asking how they gave birth to a higher being, but they never addressed that part of the plot.

So I suppose this is just pure speculation, but the only way I could see him suddenly getting even a hint of the power like that is through transference. And the only time I could think of when that would have happened in a situation that no one else who had been exposed to the boy had experienced, was when he released his power during the daytime.

Crying children will dry their eyes. Sleeping babies will awaken and take to the skies!

reply

My problem with the ending was that the authorities were interviewing the guys at the end which seemingly ignored the world changing event that was witnessed by millions of people.

For me the film needed a bit more talking and exposition.

saw the flash of light as well, was just a quick flash but ya, it was there, and intentional.

Haha and you are one of those egotistical a--holes that assumes to be of higher intelligence than the masses when in reality you are FAR more ignorant! Lmfao!!

When do dressings for "scars" have wires attached to all of them? Huh Stevie Wonder?

Next time think before you speak so you dont make yourself look so retarded next time. The poster you attempted to bash has to be shaking his head and your pure ignorance.

Not all dressings had wires attached to it son of a whore.

The point remains. He was still in prison. EB's were not the one monitoring him or his behavior. Unless they somehow convinced prison staff to do so.

Now stfu you peice of *beep*

Maybe your juvenile hostility and consequential beatings means you’ve experienced plenty of head wounds, but you still have no idea of what “dressings” should look like.

Take a look at the image… a wire attached to every piece of electrode tape… while he was getting a break from being tested 😉

When you read this while sucking on your sisters tits. let me repeat myself again. EB's were not observing him. He is still in the prison. He is an EB himself and like his son he doesn't need wires attached to his head in order to be observed by them.

That's my main point when OP said that he was being observed by EB's through the wires attached to his head. Got it now cock gobbler? or do i need to say it again for the fourth time?

You seem to be confusing your amount of posts in this thread with the assertion that you’re somehow restating the same point… which has actually been changing with each of your emissions.

At no point did the OP even hint energy beings were monitoring him so it’s fairly clear you’re unwilling to accept you made a mistake with the “dressings” and desperately trying to avoid it by accusing others of nonsensical comments that never happened. Does this behaviour ease your frustration with life?

Nothing has changed. Op is stating that he is being 'observed' by 'them' because he is also from another world.

Who are them? people in prison surely doesn't know he is EB. Its only revealed at the end scene.

Why don't you go gag and choke on your fathers ball sack? because you clearly are of no use to anyone.

Still no reference to the “dressings”? 😉

You failed to mention you misinterpreted the OP comments in your first post so that’s what’s changed. If you genuinely made yet another mistake then let me explain.

When the OP wrote “they” (not “them”) he was referring to the FBI/CIA/NSA etc. that were observing him. The “people in prison” have no idea what he is and only witnessed what his son did so that’s why they would be observing him… as in medical observation.

What possible reason would EB’s need electrodes from our world to monitor him with? I realise you also made the mistake of not noticing they were electrodes, but once that error was pointed out you then come up with this new mistake.

BTW, you seem to have an unhealthy fascination with incest and I don’t know if that’s a thing in your culture, but there must be people that can help you with that problem. They might be able to help with your maths and reading difficulties too.

reply

Dressings don't need wires. Open your eyes.
