Terrible first 40 minutes...great last hour

Am I the only one who thought the first half of this movie was terrible, and the last half brilliant?

The first half was extremely funny and set the characters up nicely. The history teacher was a tad on the lame side and not believable, but other than that it was a highly enjoyable first half that hit home hard in the final act where the reality of cancer is all too real, unlike a lot of other silly feel good movies regarding cancer.

I gave up after 22 minutes. It is indeed terrible. I may give the rest another chance after reading your post and finding out that many agree with you.
