So he agreed to take the attractive girl to prom, and then instead went to see the dying girl in the hospital instead. What happened to prom? Was it actually that night, or was it another night? When his mom said "Take lots of pictures" she must have not known that he was going to the hospital, right? I feel bad for any girl jilted on prom night. Did he jilt the girl that he was going to take? I'm very confused by this and don't see a discussion of this anywhere.
shareI think he was on his way to the prom, but stopped at the hospital first to show Rachel the film and then of course, she went into the coma so naturally he couldn't go to the prom after that. And I'm sure Madison would have understood since she liked Rachel too.

Exactly. This scenario makes the most sense. He's sitting in the limo and the weird limo driver is saying all the stuff about love and whatever and he realizes he has to go see Rachel. If she hadn't happened to start dying he probably would have continued on to Prom. But then again, maybe not. He might also have realized that Madison was just another fake friend and decided not to go with her. Whatever it was, I don't think it really mattered much in the end. I still liked this movie alot.
