Why was Rachel so moved by the film?

I genuinely didn't get why Rachel was so much by the film? Was there some deep, hidden meaning in those visuals that I failed to pick up? Coz all I saw was their faces followed by some stop-motion animation. Anybody?

I was genuinely annoyed by this artsy copout.

At least if it didn't matter you could have made it something less random and a bit more impressive.

I don't know. I loved the movie until the hospital scene.

"I was genuinely annoyed by this artsy copout."

And exactly how would you make a film about your feelings for someone?

"...something less random..."

It wasn't random, it was Abstract.

Sometimes writers and producers are intentionally vague and leave it to the viewers to decide and then people talk and talk and everyone is convinced they have the answer. If there is an answer then I wish they had made it more clear. I'm sure not going to speculate.

The thing I noticed is that the music for the video is so depressing. I think it is bizarre he used that music for such a video.

I think it was for two reasons. One being what others have said here; it was a friend made film specifically for her. Someone cared enough about her to make it, and by the end of the film, she seemed to be able to tell Greg made the film because he genuinely wanted to as time went on and not just because the "attractive girl" made him as she originally thought.

Secondly, why was he making the film? Because she is dying.
This reality probably hit her as she is watching this movie... It's a movie made for her because she is about to die.
That alone is probably terrifying to her. She looked moved by the film, but also extremely terrified.

It's almost a reminder that she is dying.
