Comedy is relative. What one person finds hysterical another may find purile. I love Monty Python..my partner thinks it's stupid. I love Laurel and Hardy but I've had them described to me as '2 men being stupid slowly'. I like Family Guy and American Dad. I liked Ted a lot. Thought it was brilliant and very funny. However Seth McFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy failed to raise as much as a smile. I went into AMWTDITW expecting it to be lots of *beep* gags. I was expecting gags about homophobia, racism, pedophilia, scatology...and I got them..in spades. It was EXACTLY what I expected from Seth McFarlane. The film wasn't as bad as I had been led to believe by certain critics. It's no Blazing Saddles but covers the same ground with anachroinistic references and dialogue, lashings of racism and dubious taste gags (the scene where Neil Patrick Harris craps in a hat was just as funny as just and just as 'envelope pushing' as the fart scene in Blazing Saddles was back in '74)
