The Star Wars sequel trilogy has received heavy criticism from fans. Here's how Lucasfilm and Disney could have fixed the trilogy's big problems.
I do hate seeing that common excuse that Lucas "hadn't planned" his films that much as some sort of defence against that being a failing of the Disney trilogy.
Sure he may have changed details and revised plotlines but he most certainly did have some overriding narrative planned out. The fact that Disney had three films and changed what was supposed to be happening in each and every one of them was most certainly a massive part of their failure.
Those are some decent points but to me, the way to make them better would have been to have better lead characters. Rey, Finn and Kylo are just not very interesting.
Although, I didn't mind the 3rd film of the ST, RoS. I thought that was a decent movie. I kinda liked it.
I found those characters VERY unlikeable, even Poe had mixed reactions from me.
