Star Wars Ep IX: Duel of the Fates script

Good but imperfect.

I mean, the set up for IX was so bad that Duel of the Fates or Rise of Skywalker were basically doomed from the get-go.

DotF has a tighter plot and actually builds on The Last Jedi, which is better than retconning it. It doesn't have Palpatine.

TRoS, on the other hand, has a better arc for Kylo Ren. It makes the trilogy more Ren's journey than Rey's since Rey has no arc and Kylo Ren/ Ben Solo does. That "keeps it in the family". Another plus is that Rose got almost no screentime. Still, it faltered and backtracked. It was a bunch of fetch-quests and "now we go here, now we go here" and it wasn't great.

My overall impression of Duel of the Fates is that it was solid and good overall, but nothing really special or standout. It doesn't go anywhere really interesting or do anything superlative.

The Rise of Skywalker, on the other hand, is basically a bunch of REALLY high highs and REALLY low lows. It expends a TONNE of effort retconning The Last Jedi to please fans. It's a jumbled mess.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with Duel of the Fates, but I'm not happy about it (especially that ending...)

Really, the ST was DOA.

Probably handled Luke and Leia better, Rey was somewhat different (Darth Maul like Dual saber was actually a good idea).

Ideas from this script were used in The Rise of Skywalker to some extend (which also proves it's a genuine script and not fake) how things went in the end and Kylo's Palpatine darkside secrets quest which in this film was turned into the quest to find the surviving Palpatine.

But I have to say this script would still be a failure because the premise of the trilogy was already destroyed in the Last Jedi there was nothing to save with the sequel trilogy it was doomed.

Not perfect, but much, much better than what we got. In fact, had this been made, it might have been the best out of the 3.

Knights of Ren....actually do stuff.
No Palpatine.
Luke and Leia handled reasonably well.

I get that they had to make changes due to Carrie Fischer passing away, but why they didn't stick with the major parts of this script and just altar the Leia stuff....they could have actually made this.

Starting from scratch with Rise of Skywalker did them no favours....movie is easily the worst of all 9 movies.
