Good first half. Less so after that...

I thought the back and forth between the two Adams was pretty funny. Even the physical comedy between them was great. The younger actor really nailed Ryan Reynold's Deadpool-lite patter.

I wish they had focused on that.

Once it got deep into the time travel mission stuff, the younger Adam faded into the background and it became a goofy but forgettable sci-fi/action flick.

What was up with the light swords and staffs? Seemed like they were stuffed in there for the sake of a joke or two by young Adam. Otherwise, they seem pretty pointless.

And, again with the distracting CGI! That picture perfect HDR cabin in the woods with the non-specific golden-hued lighting. Living in BC my wife and recognized the location filming for much of it, but they coudn't find a real outdoor cabin somewhere to fill in?

I liked the first half also, it was a very fun premise and felt like another Back to the Future in a small way.

As often happens, the second half of these kinds of films always lose sight of the setup and chemistry which came the third act and gets a bit silly with the way they "save the day" and the obligatory crazy effects and the villains and stuff as they finish everything up. It's just the way it goes.

Spoiler:

I loved the idea of them going back to see their dad who was gone from their lives, and the way they vanished at the end.
