This is the only western were the villains are "robber barons"

Robber barons did NOT exist in the west, they were eastern industrialists or maybe railroad barons.

Was the script written by revisionist Marxists? Certainly! They must have objected to banditos being the villains.

So they create gold-mining tycoon Bartholomew Bogue who owns white slaves in 1890!

The villains were also Robber Barons in "Heaven's Gate". Michael Cimino's misguided, anti-capitalist Western epic, that seems more like something produced in the USSR than an American Western. And in "The Great Silence", a similarly themed 1960s Spaghetti Western.

There were also cattle barons and mining barons - I expect they were ruthless bastards as well. Several of the men on this list were in the old west. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robber_baron_(industrialist)

Morton in Once Upon a Time in the West was a Railroad Baron.
