Raging Bull = Best movie
Megalon isn't wrong here, and this board, all of imdb is flooded with SJWs trying to push their agenda while using the platforms they have no clue about (movies/games)
This new "multiculti" cast is there NOT for racism reasons it's only there for money and greed reasons of 2016.
Since the 19060s more and more immigrants came to the US (from all over the world)
and the immigrants who were there already produced children, a new generation.
This movie's cast is the perfect example of "we need all the demographic" or target audience we can get to make the most profit.
So now your cast consists of all kinds of US immigrants, the studio made sure of that so every korean/black/gay etc. will at least think about going to the movie.
It's all about the money, capitalism and greed for money knows no racism.
I will give the movie a chance because Denzels and Starlords chemistry is so damn good.
The demographic had already existed. If anything, it's Melonhead crying for omission.
shareHow many colored or non white people does there have to be in a film to make it not politically correct and how many to make it politically correct? Serious question
shareWho really gives a damn if I'm ever in deep *beep* and need people who can fight and have my back I don't give a damn what color their skin is, gender they are, or orientation. What matters is can I trust you, can you fight, and do you believe we will win! AS LONG AS THE MOVIE DOESN'T SUCK WHO CARES IF IT IS CULTURALLY DIVERSE OR NOT!!!!!!!
shareHave you ever seen the original The Magnificent Seven? No? Then go and watch it!
I shall be known from now on as the Black Vegetableshare
"But..but...everybody got along back then!"
Diversity friendly seven. Almost all races represented! And the bad guys - all white, which means that everything is balanced! Nobody is offended! *beep* yea!
I shall be known from now on as the Black Vegetableshare
The worst thing a remake can do is just make the same movie. I mean, what's the point? For good or for ill, I'd rather watch a different movie. A bad remake which makes changes is better than a mediocre remake which makes no changes. At least the bad movie is something to talk about. Mediocre and same, there's nothing to talk about.
I mean, this thread's existance is proof that we're talking about it (hence different). I'd much rather that than the Psycho remake, or if not a shot for shot remake like Psycho, Alfie, a movie which is similar enough to be dull. What I mean is, both of the original movies should have been left alone altogether. No remake, even a remake with all white/Japanese cast (depending on what movie they were remaking), but if they had remade it with a cast like the original, you'd get five minutes of discussion then it'd be over. But since they HAVE remade it and the HAVE changed the cast, at least it's provoking discussion. Given that a remake would have been utter tosh regardless, better it's utter tosh which we can talk about.
Skipping page long posts for over a year now.
I would argue at the very least that the point would be a technical change/upgrade. The worst thing about these remakes is that they do go out of their way to change the characters instead of actually embracing the creative availability in today's filmmaking. Even superhero movies take these advances for granted and make it a seamlessly bland cookie cutter result.
Not only that, but the Magnificent Seven is in many ways the original 'Expendables', and should be a vehicle for character actors. Granted Denzel has done enough to warrant being a gunslinger candidate, so my beef isn't solely with his casting, but the overall makeup is a wasted opportunity. Ethan Hawke? Eh.. Vincent D'Onofrio, ok. Inciting conflict among characters requires skill, inciting conflict among different ethnicities is easy. It's isn't 'Realism', it's simply 'topical'.
I think in general though we can all agree the shot by shot Psycho remake was a bad call, Ripley. It was a bad call.
Agree. Multicultural nonsense.
When Yul Brynner went to recruit his guys, he went after men like himself - good with a gun and desperate for income, with a small sense of compassion, and...white.
Imagine just lounging around fitting that description was a perfect representation of LA or NYC circa 2016.
Pointless, as usual, remake of a classic.

I'll lay down $20 now on the Mohawk having a little speech/aside about 'his people'. "My people were also defenseless victims, so I will help this village and its people, so they will not have to experience the same suffering as my noble tribe did." or.. you know.. something like that.
I'd like to be wrong tho. I really do.
Because when I think "ragtag group of underdogs" when it comes to westerns I think "seven white guys who are all the same".
Dumbass.
Warning! The Monster is loose!
You do realize how racist America was back then, right?
I'll watch anything with Denzel.. dude is a phenom.
But as to historical accuracy, you do realize this is right up there with Cate Blanchet playing William Wallace, right?
I'm just trying to gauge if you're culturally sensitive, or .. you know.. completely retarded.
You do realize how racist America was back then, right?
That's why this group is special.
shareWell, wait, isn't that an example of your own blind racism, thinking that all white men are the same?
shareWhy no autistic gunslingers? Why no little person gunslingers? Why no trans-gender gunslingers? This movie is offensively discriminatory!
shareThe lack of trannies is especially getting my panties in a bunch, that much I can tell you. I would also cite the lack of dwarf gunslingers, but as we all know, dwarves only appear in dream sequences.
shareHa ha. Why didn't I think of that?
Can you see it? Caitlin Jenner as the transgender, but really male, but actually "questioning", whatever he/she is, in a gun fight to the death with real macho desperadoes?
Who would win?
Paired up with the Rain Man and the guy from Leprechaun, they could make a formidable trio.
In a stare down fast draw, Caitlin goes for her/his gun but breaks a nail. Rain Man counts the bullets between his group and the bad guys. It only takes a fraction of a second, but that is too long, as it turns out. The dwarf reaches for his gun, but because the holster and gun are full size, he has to reach above his head.
They all three die in a blaze of gunfire, but they get their revenge when the meanies die laughing.
