This Movie Was Awesome

I finally got to see this, and frankly, I don't see what all the criticism was about. I don't see what more anyone could expect or want from such a movie. Yes, you had to pay attention, but that's not much of a criticism. I think the main difference between the first two flicks is the first one was aimed more toward the casual fan, while this one was more for comic book fans.

The idea that Ultron was not a threat is ridiculous. He nearly pulled off an extinction level event! If that's not a threat, I don't know what it.

You got to see the introduction of Quicksilver, The Scarlet Witch, and the Vision. And while there was no one great scene like Hulk trashing Loki, there were a lot of cool moments like the Hulkbuster armor's "jackhammer" fist.

In fact, I was surprised how nostalgic it was to see Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch on screen. But those characters are nearly as old as Thor, the Hulk, and Iron Man. I dislike that they killed Quicksilver off though, those two characters belong together.

Even more awesome news. Yesterday, set pics from Germany dropped featuring the MCU version of Iron Man's Mark 46 Armor aka "Bleeding Edge Armor." That is going to look ultra cool.

A reportedly frustrated Kevin Feige -- president of Marvel Studios and producer on a number of its films -- will report to Disney studio chief Alan Horn rather than Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter, in a reorganization that started last week, The Hollywood Reporter writes.

Leave the TV side to those guys.

About the TV numbers, Fox News Channel (FOX, FOXA) has been on a streak since its GOP debate ratings coup, prevailing in weekly primetime cable ratings for the fifth week in a row.The network averaged 1.86M viewers overall to ESPN's 1.82M. Disney Channel (NYSE:DIS) was third with 1.5M, while HGTV (NYSE:SNI) and USA Network (NASDAQ:CMCSA) tied with 1.4M viewers.Total-day ratings were ruled by the usual suspects: Nickelodeon (VIA, VIAB) in first, followed by Disney, Adult Swim and Cartoon Network (NYSE:TWX).

The Netflix Daredevil ratings are still sky high. That show is a phenom. That's why they won't release it on DVD yet.

People should watch any of those NYCC panel videos on youtube if they doubt it. AOS, Daredevil and Jessica Jones all did one.

The past isn't so bad, and the future should be even better. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will break box office records next month, and that's the kind of event that will only help Marvel later on.

AOU is superior to the Farce Awakens.

I waited a long time to watch this too cuz I heard it was same old same old. But I wish I saw it in the theater. Still think they gotta lighten up on the cheese a wee bit.

I enjoyed the movie despite its flaws.

If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now.-Loki (Marvel's Avengers)

Such minor minor flaws and so much to enjoy.

Beats the Force Awakens that's for sure.

reply

No. Both are equally stupid movies. BUT at least TFA has Han Solo and Chewy flying in the Millennium Falcon.

Yes, it is awesome. One of the best films of 2015 in my opinion, though not as good as Star Wars: the force awakens. It is very enjoyable. It had its dark moments, but they were lightened by the really good sense of humour it had. I personally liked vision. He was probably one of the best characters in the whole movie. He was developed very well, not just as a character, as an avenger. Ultron was a really cool villain, his extinction level plan, didn't see that coming. He was a bit jokey at times, but also quite dark. Probably the best thing about this movie was the final battle in Sokovia (RIP Sokovia) which quicksilver had to go and get killed in, but it was a noble sacrifice to save Hawkeye and that boy he was saving's lives. (RIP quicksilver). All and all another home run for marvel. It is agreeable.

I don't know what people are complaining about either. Maybe it's a bit more mature and adult than the first one, which while a decent movie, felt like it was pandering to the 12-year-old intellect. Age of Ultron improves on several aspects where the first one fell short; Far better story and character arcs and character development. A more well rounded, charming, fun villain. Sure, Loki is fun to watch but he's a two-dimensional character at best with minimal character development. And usually whenever he gets character development, we're only tricked into thinking he got it, as he was just lying and not actually evolving as a character.
And then there's the backup villains who is the same old rubbish we see over and over again. All the boring, standard, uninspired, mass produced talks about "POOOOWEEEER".
With Avengers 2, I was happy to get this kind of dynamic villain which is a hell of a lot better than basically the same freaking villain that shows up in half of these movies. We got the exact same one dimensional boring villain for Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor 2, and X-Men: Apocalypse. They're the dullest thing there is and there's no chemistry or drama between them and the heroes.

Avengers 2 pulled a feat I thought impossible. It made Scarlet Johanssen work as Black Widow. Previously she's had so many moments of failing to act in that character. But with the improved script of Avengers 2 she had plenty of emotional content to work with and develop her character, and it worked out nicely. Black Widow is usually less than one dimensional. Scarlet really should stay out of action in general and do drama, which her acting width is limited to.

Except for Hulk not getting as many epic moments as he did in the first one (and sure, the battle of NY is still untouchable), I found the sequel satisfying in every possible way. Maybe the tone is darker (and possibly uneven), but the movie is just as exciting as its predecessor.

You want something corny? You got it!

reply

Agree just as exciting even without the Hulk stealing every scene.

The movie is darker but that played out perfectly after Winter Soldier. It had to be this dark.
