Good but not as great as original
We pretty much all in agreement here? Both the plot and action were choppier this time around....still enjoyable but not as good.

shareAgree. Good, fun movie. But filled with too many flaws to be considered great. 6.5-7/10 from me.
shareAgreed, unfortunately. I was really excited for it and I left feeling like it was more about robots and not really about the Avengers. I guess that "go team go" feeling wears off after the first one. I didn't expect such a dark and depressing movie. It was good, but not great.
shareThe action was just as cool if not better. Yet, the pace feels slightly more rushed here than the original. Right now, it's too close to call but both are great great films.
shareIdk if I could ever consider this effort to be great...but I did love some moments. Marvel still has not made a "bad" movie which is impressive
shareMore than impressive, it's everything. Ant-Man is premiering tonight and all the buzz is saying they have done it again. That's beyond impressive.
shareMaybe nothing ever will ever be able to measure up to the magic that was the first Avengers? We all may have to accept it as the first film being that great and that well placed in time.
sharePeople need to remember to judge even fun films like this one on artistic merit. Here again, Marvel passes with flying colors.
shareWell, nothing has matched the greatest of the original Avengers. If we held that against a movie, we'd hate everything.

Back and forth we go.
I accept your surrender.
Who is to say that it's not considered to be one long saga? Almost like it's one movie and not two separate films.
shareIt is one long saga just like in the books.
shareBetter than the books nowadays. The current Marvel books are mostly all crap.
Down the line, that will cost them.

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.
Agreed, the 1st Avengers movie is hard to top.

I do enjoy this movie in some ways more than the first film, but I do think that AoU made it much more obvious what Whedon's flaws as a film maker are. He masked it better in the first film, not so much this time. It's the Russos turn.
shareYou do bring up a good point. The Russo brothers are going to have a hard time topping the first two Avengers movies and Captain America-The Winter Soldier.

I think they can do it. If Winter Soldier is any indication, they are the best people for the job. Civil War will be a good challenge to see how they balance an ensemble cast. Plus I think they struck a perfect tone in TWS. AoU was VERY heavily unbalanced in the humor department. I even thought the first Avengers movie had a little more humor than it needed as well, not enough to detract from it completely, but still a bit much.
shareOT- Trump the brash White House hopeful proved he refuses to be politically correct once again Wednesday as he mocked Carly Fiorina's appearance. What's that guy's malfunction?
OT: Trump keeps the "good times" rollin' along after ignoring and not correcting some idiot telling him at a 'town hall' that Obama's a Muslim and "we need to get rid of all of them!" Trump was no "John McCain" when some ignorant old woman didn't trust Obama and accused him of being Arab! They just aren't too bright on the "right" side of the street!
