Honestly, did anybody want another remake of a bad Brendan Frasier remake? Who wanted this to be made? What is Hollywood thinking? Seriously. Anyone who was hoping "hot damn, I wish they would remake the mummy again" PLEASE tell me.
the 1999 movie rocks. in fact I cant think of anyone I know that doesn't like it. everyone agrees that movie was generally well done and a fun funny old fashioned adventure movie that improved upon the original. but this...looks terrible.

Mummies should be scary. Not funny or sexy. The exception is 'Abbot and Costello meet the Mummy'. THAT is fun funny old fashion style. Not the 90's adaptations IMO.
1932 Mummy to me is eerie and creepy as Mummies should be. This new nonsense is another action flick sold as a 'Monster' movie. Oh, with a hot sexy Mummy to boot!

If the 1999 version was "bad" then why complain when the studio wants to correct their wrongs? Sure, no one may have asked for it but Marvel is doing what other studios want and that's making BILLIONS from an idea that existed back during the original run of the Universal monsters.
There's been mummy films dating back for almost as long as non-silent films. This won't be the last made even if it bombs. The story/legend/idea/preface is still out there and well known, it's easy to latch on to.
The Brendan Fraser films, especially the later ones, were very poor imo and as a result I don't think there is a lot of demand for a new film unless (in eyes of studio) they get some big name actors, which they did.
