Working conditions too tense
Between the Captain being on war path, Kate starting to show jeolousy of Ben & Em, and this nitpicker Dean on board, everything was bound to collapse under the tension.

Kate was hardly being jealous, especially since she played cupid to get them together, but their romance negatively affected both Ben's and Emily's work performance this episode and they were both too blind to see either of them messed up or why and attributed Kate being annoyed to her being jealous, because they were too wrapped up to see their own faults.

Agree!
shareI do sense Kate being somewhat jealous. She probably didn't think Bemily would work out and at the same time she is having communication issues with her girlfriend. Even though Emily may have dropped the ball in this one instance, she is a dream stew and never gives any trouble. Furthermore, she went right to Kate and asked her if there was a problem. She is light-years more mature than anyone else on the boat.
share...and that includes Ben. Him letting his brother stay on the boat for hours when Capt. Lee said James could come to the boat to say goodbye because the captain couldn't cherry pick how he campused the crew was obnoxious on Ben's part.
shareI disagree. Kate wasnât jealous. She just wanted them to do their jobs and act professionally. Emily started hanging out in the kitchen when she should have been working. The captain shouldnât have had to find someone to assist the guests. Emily knew she was supposed to be on service while Kate took her break. But instead she was hanging out with Ben in the kitchen.
Donât forget the problem with the chewy conch. Ben himself knew it wasnât right and said he didnât think he should send it up. Kate said it was like conch flavored bubble gum. But then Ben asked Emily â which he should not have done. Kate is the chief stew and Ben shouldnât have been going around her. That was unprofessional. And then, as Kate pointed out, Emily was wrong. Emily said she (personally) wouldnât mind the chewy conch. But sheâs not a guest on a luxury yacht who is expecting five star meals and service. Furthermore, Emily was also WRONG to overrule her boss. She never should have even involved herself. When Ben asked her she should have abstained, saying it wasnât her call.
Ben messed up the broth because he was preoccupied about Emily and being defensive with Kate. It was a rookie mistake to add ice to stop the shrimp from cooking. Ben shouldnât have been making an error like that. And, as Kate pointed out, he knew he was in the wrong, which is why he did the multi course tasting menu the next night to make it up to the guests.
Thats what working in hospitality is all about. You're only good as your last shift. Just focus on whats in front of you and move forward.

Sierra's had her moments of "incompetence;" left the iron on and burned a sheet once IIRC! I would have to fire both who have left electronics on unattended! That boat is worth over $20 M I'm sure; maybe more with all it's been decked out in! î˛

People don't realize how with all that varnish and wood that a fire on a boat can be catastrophic in mere minutes.
shareEven with all that luxury, I only go out on the water for a dinner cruise! I can't be convinced to go on a real trip after hearing those horrors stories from a few years ago; water tainted, toilets backing up, and just being stuck out in the middle of nowhere! I want to be able to swim for it as I've said before! îŚ

Me, too -- I could handle a river cruise with land in sight, but the open ocean? No thanks.
sharedefinitely.
shareAnybody who does not realize this shit is COMPLETELY scripted is dumber than chewing gum.
shareWelcome back!
shareSo what, itâs more entertaining than most scripted sitcoms. The scenarios are beginning to get predictible. Oh, here comes another all cruise gals ⌠aka cougar cruise of crude joking women who will flirt with the deck crew. Every season has at least two crew firings. Getting drunk on crew night off is a given, as are the hot tub hookups.
Still, entertaining.
