A total surprise, but I can't believe no one is talking about this flaw (SPOILER)....

What a complete surprise. Such a great side story going on at the same time.

However, I'm surprised no one is touching this one (but maybe I missed something that made this "possible") - near the end when fighting Godzilla prior to being sank, Godzilla is STANDING. So how does it fall 1400 plus meters? Did they mention some sort of dramatic drop off in the water that I missed?

Still, just a wonderful surprise all around.

They said Godzilla is swimming there and they apply, i am not sure, CO2/N2? to the water, so he is not able to swim anymore and sinks to the ground and getting crushed like the Titanic submarine.

reply

Yeah that was silly. It was obviously supposed to be floating or swimming, how bouyant would it have to be to appear as it did?

reply

I think, you missed a lot. It was all explained during their planning and during the conference where they showed graphical presentation of how they plan to sink Godzilla. The Godzilla was attached with numerous Freon (Refrigerant) Gas Cylinders which when released, drops the surface tension and hence the buoyancy, sinking Godzilla as the gas keeps releasing throughout its downfall trajectory.

I believe the OP meant that the monster looked like it was standing on the bottom, hence where was there for it to sink to?

In the shots straight after the destroyers collided it sure did look like it was walking/wading on solid ground.

reply

Agreed.

It's a fantastic film but Godzilla does indeed appear to be able to walk just surface level.

It's either a massive plot hole or there's some other explanation. Maybe he has a level of buoyancy to float but due to his massive size he can distribute his weight and can seemingly walk as he balances his way along... I don't know, sounds like rubbish but there's got to be some explanation like that I guess!
