IMDB raters are so biased against female-centric movie

Don't get me wrong. I do not give FSOG 10/10, but 4/10 overall. Really?
The worst thing about movie is laughable script, but the directing and cinematography is quite all right. We also got decent acting from Dakota who is believable despite the horrible dialogues. The sound mixing and soundtrack is great. I have seen many *beep* movies got even 8/10 on IMDB recently, which only got good ratings from male-centric fanbase somehow.

The recent ghostbusters is not that bad either. There is a real bias against these movies with female marketing. I'm not talking that FSOG or Ghostbusters are feminist movie, but it seems people just dislike it for being marketed toward female audience. Urgh.

While im not gonna defend this flick, i do think there isa bias by movie watchers and critics against female centered films, especially against romance movies.

Even movie theaters give very little space in their schedules for Rom Coms, Nicholas sparks or any film which is more targeted to female audiences. Everytime i go to the theaters something like Iron mas like ten different choices of hours you can see it while something like Mothers day was only at very hours.

Its not an IMDB bias against fifty shades but every year there is only one romance movie released against 10 action flicks, i don't mind it that much since i do love a good action flick its my second favorite genre after romance but very few of my girls like action so because of them every year i visit lesss and less the movie theaters.

Just one if them came with me to see Spectre which i was dying to see and loved it by the way. But there are less movies targeted for women every year. Its like movie studios don't care for female audiences and critics support them giving them bad reviews.

Amen to that...I remember when First Wives Club came out and was a huge hit...in fact, a lot of talk at the time...then we waited a long time...then Bridesmaids...The Heat did really well too..Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy...
Then Ghostbusters tanked...

He never beats his wife...where to you people get this stuff?

Me before You
Love and Friendship
Bridget Jones Baby
Florence Foster Jenkins

Fifty and those Niciolas Spark movies (that last one, Pee-ew!) were terrible simple as that!

I'm a female poster and I'm sorry, but this movie is just not good. If anything, 4.1 is high and it was UP voted by fans. I think it deserves no more than a 2. I gave it a 1. I read the book and it wasn't good source material, therefore the movie didn't have much of a chance.

I am Beautiful.. no matter what they say...

I like Twilight. But I haven't finished the first book yet but I have seen all the films and they are nice films, just harmless fantasy romance. Admit it you hate it because the Cullens aren't like Count Dracula or you grew up watching Buffy or watching the kids cartoon Mona the Vampire and cute movie The Little Vampire.
Honestly Twilight is rated 12 and 50 Shades is rated 18. (the films)
I haven't bothered to read any of the 50 shades and if I did it would be from a library. I know one thats still open.
The only book I have got is a biography of the actor Jamie Dornan, which I got from a bargain shop.

But please ask for Twilight to be removed from people who liked this also liked.
They are for different age range.
In a shop would you ever see a 50 Shades of Grey, Darker, Freed. Graphic novel like they did with Twilight. (Just the first book)

Maybe you should click on the rating info to see the difference between female and male ratings. Females rated this around 5, higher than the average but still not great. Guess many of them aren't keen on seeing a woman being abused (I am male and not planning to see film).

If you are a fan of the books, then you know what happens...and it was not abuse...she asked him to do it...Ana thought she could take it...she couldn't and it was excessive and brutal...Christian asks her at the beginning of the next book, why she didn't use the safe word?..she says she forgot...

yep it was all her fault, never occurred to him that this girl, who before him never even touched herself, let alone have sex, doesn't know what she is asking for and goes easy on her, but no he goes all in and belts the crap out of her!

She had it coming she forgot the safe word when she was experiencing that pain so all her fault! Don't you dare blame Christian, he had it bad growing up, poor baby!

For starters a movie with a laughable script and horrible dialogue is not a good start to the defense that this movie should be rated higher than a 4 . Just because a director is competent enough to film a script doesn't make it great either or the actors acting. In fact the main actors have no chemistry, the main actress is dull and the main actor can't stop his accent slipping . The director brings nothing interesting or new to the film. Scenes just happen and characters move like chess pieces instead of real people . It's a bad book set up for cheap sexual desires and all of that comes out full force in film form.

As for ghostbusters , it's even more so . It's a comedy which is trying to reboot a beloved comedy , by dropping humor , likable characters , all while adding the beloved actors from the original in terrible cameos . It adds nothing interesting or new , making one question why it was rebooting and not continuing the series in the first place. It's very aware that the film edited out big chunks of plot which ends up making some scenes confusing . I've never seen so many great comedians be not funny like this film,

I can only speak for myself , but I went to see ghostbusters in the theater with high hopes , I also picked up the 50 shades of grey book and gave it a chance .... ghostbusters was a let down (I'd give it a 6 or 5) , but 50 shades of grey is a piece of trash that I feel sets all the things women say their against back 20 years. Personally , it's not a man vs women thing , not liking these two , it's a taste of seeing what's good and what's bad. Are there *beep* who are more sexist ? Of course . But there are women just like this . You know how many women who have said they wouldn't watch science fiction or super hero films to me while I was growing up because it was to nerdy or men things ? That's just as ignorant. Bad films are just bad films .

reply

Ignorant posters are just ignorant posters.

Don't tell me you love animals if that's cow muscle on your plate.

It's true that female-centric movies are targeted by IMDB users, but it's even worse for black films. Jesus, the disparity between Rottentomatoes critics and IMDb users is a little boggling sometimes.

reply

This is very peculiar. I've never seen a box office block buster like this have such a low IMDB rating.
