Lindsay's Cell Phone? (Spoiler /question)

Uhh...no detective was curious about where her cell phone was? For forensic evidence? After she was murdered? I didn't hear a single mention. Ok they had the recording of what was supposedly the improper encounter she had with Steve, but then, why would Cotton have not thought to take her cell phone when he shot her ...so that would leave the question how didd the commander get the audio of her and Syeve... The head commander was sent that list but no one was curious as to the time she sent that list?

There was some sloppy writing about that aspect.

The phone had to stay in the car. Either there or with Steve's movements which would be really hard for a panic'd Dot to pull off. Remember, none of that was planned. He was out in the boonies when Lindsay got shot. Surprised they didn't look for either Bus or Cab pickups in the area to ascertain if Steve was there. It is a case of where trying to tie up everything is what eventually causes it to all unwind.

Dot left the phone with Denton’s corpse.

If you suggest he should take the phone, the question is why and for what? He would have to dispose the phone. How? police have methods to trace the phone’s last known location, so he can’t just take the phone home with him. If he dumps the phone in the river or something, he would leave a trace that might lead to him: a witness might see him .

Plus - he’s led to believe that Denton’s phone has audio evidence that incriminates Steve. So Dot would want to leave the phone to retrieve that audio, which he could use against Steve (as he did)
