This will Bomb!

This I belive will Bomb. They have advertised this way too much. As much as I love the first two, Despicable Me without Gru doesn't mix

reply

There is no way this could bomb! Plus, it just set records this weekend. By the way, not to give any spoilers, but Gru IS in this movie.. haha

$395 million and counting (as of 7/13/2015) against a $74 million budget. Your argument is invalid.

Well you're wrong

Lara Croft Himiko! The First Sun Queen! This is Yamatai.

reply

So much for that. Huge box office opening, and while the critics aren't especially in love with the film, its rating could certainly be worse. Another so-so movie that people flock to while great ones like Mad Max draw minimal attention.

reply

OP...this is why you don't make threads like this. You aren't taking into account the little kids seeing this. It's not always the fans of DM and DM2.

I had a feeling when people were talking about this as being bad.... then I just thought it's more of a kids movie and knew it would make a lot of money.

I agree that Mad Max deserved even more attention, but it has thus far made 150 million domestically and 359 million globally. That's not a bad take at all. Its fantastic in fact for a franchise that has been dormant for so long. Plus comparing Minions to Mad Max is not really fair. Parents flock to movies like Minions for their kids and animated films are the most lucrative films in Hollywood. As a parent, you shouldn't be flocking to Mad Max for your kids. Not really comparable. Mad Max compared to John Wick or something like that is a much more compatible comparison. Apples to Oranges my friend.

When the hero becomes the villain....who becames the hero?

reply

Yeah, your prediction was bad, BUT there's still a chance.

You can go and quickly edit your topic to say it'll bomb with critics, because that's the only bomb the movie had. XD

So, don't waste your chance and change the subject of your topic now.

reply

I didn't see Mad Max because it didn't appeal to me. I didn't like the directing style nor the over-hype that I found EVERYWHERE on 9Gag. A movie that drew minimal attention was It Follows (granted it was an Independent) but it really deserved attention that was given to more popular movies.

reply

I saw It Follows at the theaters and enjoyed it very much. I am curious as to how you can dislike a directing style of a film you haven't seen or call it overhyped. How would you know if you haven't seen it. I'm not saying you will like it, because heck, I think people generally are pretty spot-on with their movie instincts. However, we sometimes find ourselves surprised by something we didn't expect to like. I didn't have that much interest in Mad Max at first, either, but I went to see if all of the great reviews it received were justified and it turns out they absolutely were. It's one of the best action films I've ever seen.

-Probably by seeing the first 3 in a series. You can get a pretty good idea of what to expect out of a 4th movie by watching the first 3.

reply

True, however it has been about 30 years since the 3rd entry in the series. A lot has changed. I personally loved the first two. The third? Meh. But honestly, Fury Road, while similar in some respects to Road Warrior, is a very different and far superior film. However, if someone truly isn't interested then that's understandable.

reply

I hated It Follows and I was so excited to see it. Was it creepy, I'd say yes and I enjoy that aspect. The story, pace, odd screen cuts, idiotic decisions the characters made, and an incoherent story ruined the movie for me. I hate that there is no time line. The appliances don't match with any set time period, The Demon's rules seem to be understood by everyone and I don't understand why because no one has explained it to any of them....I could go on, but this is a Minions Message Board so I'll let it go.

When the hero becomes the villain....who becomes the hero?

Mad Max sucks.

Me, 98% of critics, and the people who made it a top 100 all time film on this site disagree, but you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

reply

I think you meant to say "This movie is the bomb"

THIS IS MY 🏠!!!! Okay 🎃??

reply

I agree.. This film was a complete bomb.. yet its making huge cash at the box-office. Well, there's no accounting for taste!

reply

Yes I too predict this movie will bo….wait what’s that? How many million???? Never mind

reply

Yeah...that didn't obviously happen...movies like the "Minions" are pretty much critics and box office proof.

I still enjoyed it and its still a funny movie and I cannot help myself, but I really like these characters.

As I've said before, I just wish they hadn't given soo much away in the trailers.

Honestly, it seems that Hollywood needs to be reminded how to make trailers and teaser...

this movie is very much like Penguins of Madagascar. however, Penguins are kid characters targeted to adults (what they do and say can be understood by adults better than kids). Minions, at the opposite, don't even talk. they act like idiots and do idiot things. even kids that can't talk or walk can laugh at their actions. this is the difference that will make it a success, even if, as the trailers show, it's another mediocre movie by itself.

reply

I just watched the "Honest Trailer" for this movie... so most of the "historical" reference take place in the 1960s? To keep engaged the parents of 5-12 year olds? You mean parents who are probably 25-35 years old aka born in 1980-1990? #DoesNotCompute
