if you've seen grace point is broadchurch worth watching?

I saw GP..loved it, is Broadchurch the same..? Or can I pick up at season 2 ?

Another pretty big deal about watching Broadchurch over Gracepoint is that Broadchurch doesn't end after one season.

I haven't seen Gracepoint but I have seen Broadchurch. I definitely think Broadchurch is worth watching.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

To me, it all comes down to Olivia Colman's Ellie Miller over Anna Gunn's. I know Olivia had more leeway to swear a blue streak but her timing -- both comedic and dramatic -- is perfect. For whatever reason the US producers didn't ask her to be in the US version (she can do an American accent), it was the biggest loss between the two shows.

I also felt the American writers' and Anna Gunn's take on Ellie was less vulnerable than the character in Broadchurch and that put David Tennant in the position of having to play Carver angrier than Hardy just to stay dominant over Gunn. A lot of nuance was lost in his US performance.

Has any US-Remake of any series/movie/whatever originally produced in England ever been better or even on-par with the original? I think not. I just watched the first episode of Broadchurch and I can tell you right now it's better than Grace Point and I haven't even seen Grace Point, nor do I want to. I'd imagine it takes place in a 'sanitized for American FCC regulations' world with actors who are trying to act like the actors who acted in Broadchurch. I respect Anna Gunn and I've got nothing against her but I don't really like her, TBH. She brings a certain 'quality' to every role she has and she always just 'oozes Anna Gunn'. Like I'm watching Anna Gunn instead of whatever role she's playing, and it just doesn't work for me. Same with Mrs. Soprano for example.

The US Office was as good as the UK Office, but they had the same creative team, so that helps.

I agree. Though I love Tennant, I thought Coleman was really the heart of Broadchurch - and that alone makes watching BC totally worthwhile.

Better mood, better cinematography, and down to every last one of them better actors in Broadchurch.

Even though it is almost shot-for-shot and line-for-line the same, Broadchurch is INFINITELY better.

A shining example of how casting in the UK is far superior to the US … in the UK, they cast for actual TALENT and not beauty or popularity.

Gracepoint was okay, but Broadchurch has me in tears often.

Yes, do yourself a favor and watch the original and superior product!

There is no comparison, Broadchurch is excellent television on every level and in every way. Grace Point is a poor imitation and should never have been attempted.

Broadchurch is way better. Gracepoint is a poor copy with added scenes. I hated how they had added a certain scene to the reveal of the murderer in Gracepoint.

Always go with the UK version. The Brits just do drama better than us Yanks.
